Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Force sensitive is OK. I think they did it just right in Empire. Leia can sense Luke, knows he's in danger, that kind of stuff.

Leia is too old to begin the training. Never her mind on where she was, what she was doing.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Leia being a Jedi isn't EU, never heard of the Lucas-ism Jedi Princess??? And Luke was instructed by Yoda to pass on what you've learned to this other Skywalker. But seeing as the way its written, Leia is the stronger personality and would be a huge opportunity missed not to have her being a great Jedi.

As for Dooku being CGI'd, apparently all the stuff done of Christopher Lee close up in AotC was really CL. He has done many Sword Films, including 3 Musketeer and a few Pirate films so was familiar with sword fighting. Similar to the way Neeson had a basic sword fighting background after doing Rob Roy. But if SLJ can do all his own sword fighting whilst in his late 50's then surely Hamill and Fisher with training could achieve a reallistic portrayal without the overuse of CGI?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking. Chris Lee was in his late 80s I believe when he did the SW films, so I understandably get the CGI there.

Yeah, don't really matter though as she HAS to be trained as theres no Jedi left. And i'm sure re-population is a priority.

Good point. :lecture

I'd love to see Carrie Fisher's new role handed tastefully, but well.

She needs that blend of mature stateswoman & ass kicker. :rock

Would be nice. But it's anybody's guess at this point about what this will even be about.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

my guess is that it will be about two hours.

Nice idea - the title works really well with that traditional font. :clap

That 'diagonal' Empire logo has always been a fave of mine. :yess:

I don't know much beyond Thrawn's basic story, & some peripheral minutia though.

It doesn't have the right pacing for a movie trilogy and completely unimportant. The characters (other than Mara Jade) have no arc, they just do things.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

My guess would be to not expect any EU stuff. Knowing Lucas, even though he sold the rights off, he did do the treatments and I can see with the ego he has, he wouldn't include anything that he himself did not come up with. Now with that being said, with new people being able to put their input in this, maybe they will include some of these characters. However once again, with Disney wanting to make the most money off this investment as the can, it will be ALL new characters (besides the old classic characters being thrown in there for nostalgia) so they can make all new toys, figures, etc etc.
