Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Nice idea - the title works really well with that traditional font. :clap

That 'diagonal' Empire logo has always been a fave of mine. :yess:

I don't know much beyond Thrawn's basic story, & some peripheral minutia though.

I always liked the Empire logo that was used in the trailer. You never saw it quite so sloped in the printed stuff, but if you saw it on screen they really put a slope on it.

I agree Heir wouldn't work as a film, I was just plying around with some 3d and thought I would throw it up here.

The gif really looks like crap, I put a cleaner version on youtube.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I think people need to get over the Zahn novels. The principals are too old for those stories to work. :lol

...And the EU will be as relevant as Boba Fett's real name being Jaster Mereel :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The Zahn novels could be adapted as animated features (like Clone Wars) and they would still work.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The Zahn novels could be used to prop up a short legged table :lecture

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

the Zahn novels work well for what they are (they helped keep Star Wars relevant 1991)...

Darth Vader is perhaps the greatest film villain of our time, but unless Episode 7 picks up after Episode 3, it would be ridiculous to have him return.

You mean the Jedi turned Mando from the Traviss novels?

Plus, they kinda suck.

There's some good stuff there, but you have to superglue your eyelids open to get to it. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

i will say that Thrawn is perhaps the most interesting EU villain created...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

If the stories are based on any book it will be a huge disappointment.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

They can't base it around any of the series, none of them are really designed to where they could work in a movie trilogy.

But, I fully expect that some of the important new characters will show up. I think Mara Jade is pretty likely. And probably some of the Solo kids, to bring in some young main characters to the cast.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I would think, that at this point we will probably have the director announced pretty soon, maybe we'll get the casting announced at SDCC. They might have Celebration VII in 2014 at which time they could have a teaser or something, if they don't have CVII in 2014 it'll definitely be in 2015 but I think they'll want to use it before the movie comes out.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I wonder if they will continue with May releases.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Also, what about John Williams? Recycled? New stuff? Total new guy? Mix of both?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

Too early to know for sure. I'd assume he's the guy, but nothing would surprise me now.

:lecture

I'd assume even if going a total new direction they'd use the opening theme. (but to me it would almost be suicide for them to not use him)

:dunno
