Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

SW theme during the opening crawl and closing credits is a no brainer. But considering John Williams is 80 it's a stretch to think he'll score all three.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

I heard Randy Newman was the guy for the new SW film soundtracks. :lecture

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

The Zahn novels could be used to prop up a short legged table :lecture
:lol

I've just never been interested enough to read any of the novels.

I once borrowed the Bounty Hunter trilogy (?) from a friend, & started reading the first one which began with Dengar & Bossk taking some cargo somewhere, then they started arguing.. or something.

It was painful.. I read about 10 pages.. I couldn't do it. :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

That would be the perfect way to utterly destroy SW forevermore :monkey4

My God would it ever.

I think people need to get over the Zahn novels. The principals are too old for those stories to work. :lol

Yeah, Im really tired of hearing it.

There's some good stuff there, but you have to superglue your eyelids open to get to it. :lol

Kinda how I felt about the LOTR books. Love the movies though.

If the stories are based on any book it will be a huge disappointment.

Same here.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015) Discussion Thread

You mean the Jedi turned Mando from the Traviss novels?

In Anderson's Tales of Bounty Hunters, Boba Fett's real name was Jaster Mereel and he's supposed to have been kicked off Concord Dawn for murdering a fellow Journeyman Protector..... well that was until the crapfest that was AotC came out and retconned all of Fetts past.:slap

Never read Traviss' novels...... but that sounds like a really lame idea to have Jaster as Jedi :cuckoo:

I liked the comics were Jaster kills the Death Watch and rescue's Jango but thats as far as ive read.

Disney have done a brave and correct thing in just throwing EU all the stuff out the window. Start fresh, start from scratch and come up with an all new villain after all thats what GL did with Maul in TPM and it was one of the best parts of that movie. They can still have a few familiar henchmen like Boba Fett, Dengar, Bossk and may be IG88 around.

Palpatine (who was named within the EU novels) was present for all of the Star Wars films (even if only referenced as being the big bad)... the OT is about bringing his rule down... he was the "uber villain". the EU hasn't done a very interesting job in matching his threat within the OT's original character timeline... i can't imagine how the ST plans to.

Palpatine's dead according to Lucas, he said he was never cloned so thats the end for the wonderful Ian McDiarmid unfortunately. The only villain anywhere near Palpatine & Vader was Jabba the Hutt, may be they could have a plot involving the Hutt criminal empire that was inherited by Rotta and the other Hutts.

Whats strange by GL being so evasive about using EU material is that he is more than happy to use it in TCW, look at the characters that have transformed that into more than your average animated series such as Asajj Ventress and Durge.

It was supposedly his idea to have Palpy cloned. Lucas is very wispy-washy when it comes to his universe. He gave Zahn notes to follow regarding references to the Clone Wars. We all saw how that played out...

Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy and Stackpole's X-Wing series are the best of the best when it comes to the EU. I'm also a sucker for the Kyle Katarn video games. They should be adapted as a cartoon somehow. I'd love that.

I remember knowing about the name Palpatine as a kid in school in the early 80s - before all the EU books. :huh

I did own the the ROTJ novel.. maybe it was mentioned in there..

I remember that stupid book. Boba Fett was a cameo appearance. It was such a boring book. Never finished it. Wasn't worth it.

i believe his name was first introduced in Alan Dean Foster's 1976 A New Hope novelization... so, perhaps my mistake as referring to it as "EU".

By far, quite possibly, the worst adult EU books ever made. The Jedi Prince is probably more easily read and enjoyed. C'mon, Zorba the Hutt?! :lol
