Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (Dec 15th, 2017)

Rumour round-up:
So Rey is Luke's daughter. He thought Kylo killed her with knights of Ren, but actually he saved her from another knight, killing one of his own and then hiding her on Jakku (vision in TFA). Jakku had a secret Imperial underground bunker, full of stuff the Emperor had stolen from the galaxy (a la the Nazi's). That's why the battle took place there, why he knew it. (This is confirmed in one of the official books) Perhaps there are sith artifacts buried there.
When the knights of Ren (a group of students who formed their own little Oxford like gang who researched the sith) burned the Jedi temple to the ground, Luke was overcome by pain and anguish, he went into hiding, knowing that Solo and Leia's son had killed his daughter (and possibly wife). He couldn't face seeing either han or Leia again, which explains their situations and reactions in TFA. And finally according to the leaked TFA screenplay, Luke knew exactly who rey was and what she was doing by the end of TFA. He had sensed her awakening I guess on the Starkiller base and realised his daughter was alive. Snoke had told Ren that he had to kill his family in order to proceed with his training. Vader's only mistake was his emotional attachment to his loved ones. Ren knew this was already an issue as he had hid Rey from danger and potentially allowing a force strong jedi to flourish and eventually come back to kill them both. This is real greek mythology stuff, where you don't kill your adversary, you leave them on an island so they can come back for revenge many years later. :)
There will be against snow battle (mirroring TESB) which is why JJ cut the snow chase scenes from TFA.

Snoke isn't a sith as stated, he is a force consuming entity who is returning from the netherworld by consuming the living energy of the galaxy, dark or light. Ren doesn't know this, he thinks he is helping an ancient sith return. (confirmed in parts by the novelisation which describes his face as being in the process of recreation, restructuring). It seems to be playing into that old cliche about a gang of students playing with a Ouija and resurrecting a demon, a spirit which lies to them telling them it is something else.

this entity may or may not be Plagueis, but he has been around for a long time, he watched the clone wars unfold and watched Vader and the Emperor rise to power.

...anything else?

But didn't Kathleen Kennedy say that "twins run in the Skywalker family?"

I don't really like the idea of them only having one child each. I was kinda hoping Han and Leia have another child somewhere.

I don't think one child each is leaving much of a legacy to live on, especially since one of them is evil and will potentially meet their end!

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (Dec 15th, 2017)

That's very interesting. Was it stated anywhere what the age difference between Rey and Ren is?

Don't think so, a scene cut from the movie was when Rey saw a "boy" watching her in the middle of her vision. It's been speculated that the boy was a young Ren. And that his look was too specifically a young Adam Driver so they cut it. She was 5 when she was left on Jakku, so I'm guessing Ren was at least 10-15 years older.

all speculation and smoke of course, but fun.

Well, they keep things very ambiguous in TFA. Ren could easily have a twin brother or sister who simply hasn't been acknowledged yet. As could Rey.
originally I was of the opinion that Rey and Ren were brother and sister, but that seems a lot less likely now, and they certainly couldn't be twins.

Why couldn't they be twins though other than the fact there's an age gap between the actors?
I don't recall it ever really being mentioned in the film what ages they both are.

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (Dec 15th, 2017)

Well rey was a very small child (5) when left on Jakku. You even see this in her vision, Ren had to be a lot older as that was when he destroyed the Jedi school?
So they cannot be the same age.

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (Dec 15th, 2017)

Would be lame to not have acknowledged a sibling. Han and Leia made it sound as if Ben/Ren were their only child. I guess he could pull it out of their ass he had a sister like Lucas did with Luke. Would be fitting since they are just remaking the original trilogy.

But it's never really acknowledged when he destroyed the Jedi School or how old he was at the time. I could be just clutching at straws, but nothing has really been that clear cut stated to rule it out I don't think!

Maybe whoever left Rey on Jakku wiped everyone close to hers memory in order to protect the child?
Just a thought!

It was though. Solo told Rey that Luke set up a jedi academy and one of his students went bad and destroyed everything. We know Ren trained as a jedi. And we saw Luke grading R2 in pain and sadness as the academy burns. It was years ago, but he had to be reasonably old, older than Rey anyway.

If you watch the vision/dream closely you will notice that Ren saves Rey in the rain, the Warrior that stands over her was about to kill her. This suggests that Ren saved her. This was backed up by the leaked oscar screenplay. It wasn't a student as many theorised that Ren killed in the vision but another "warrior"

I've become a little obsessed with this. Who the **** is Rey's daddy?

:lol

Oh yeah, I guess! Do we know how long Luke has supposed to be missing for?

When the Blu Ray comes out that scene is going on Slo Mo lol.

Yes to this. :lol
I never noticed it myself in my multiple cinema viewings. I read about it online. Someone has a slowed down gif. I always thought it was a jedi student that Kylo speared with his lightsaber, but if you look it up he clearly kills someone who is about to hurt Rey. And that's not a jedi youngling helmet at all, as he is listed in the screenplay as "warrior".

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII (Dec 15th, 2017)

I love the sounds of these theories. If Ren did save Rey and killed one of his own to do it, it makes me like his character even more. Having Luke think his daughter and (potential) wife killed by Ren in his mind is also very tragic for Luke to go through. Plus, I have seen this movie a lot, and Han definitely knows who Rey is. Just his reactions to her seeing green and beauty for the first time and him offering her a job on the Falcon make me think he knows who she is. And the way when Maz asks him who Rey is the scene is conveniently cut at that moment. It is a mystery why Han doesn't tell Leia though. Anyway, love the sounds of these potential spoilers.

THIS!!!

I noticed that myself and have been saying it to everyone since. He definitely knows who she is and that whole scene with Maz. I didn't spot it til the second watch, but yeah he knows.
