The stupid Disney hate is so unwarranted. When they insert Mickey Mouse into the films, then I'll get worked up, but at this point I just feel incredibly grateful to be getting new, good Star Wars films every single year! How awesome is it that I can share this with my kids? I don't expect them all to be fantastic, law of averages goes against that, but damn, they are so much better than the Prequels.

Rogue One just murdered all their primary characters with a nuclear explosion and Vader sliced a guy in half in camera.

But yeah I guess Disney is going soft lol.

People have to realize Disney isn't a very bright happy company. There movies are very dark. They shot a baby deer's mom for crying out loud. Not to mention the horrific ways villains die in the movies. I think syndrome got it worse. He got sliced up in an airplane engine thing. Disney has always made there kids movies dark. Killing parents at every turn. People gloss over it

While I was never a comic book kid (or guy) I do enjoy the Marvel movies, and so do my Wife and Daughter, they are consistently good entertainment. Look at Avengers, with all the characters, it's amazing they kept the movie balanced, let alone coherent. Sure, they aren't ground breaking, avant garde cinema, but they are fun, well made films.

I'll admit, I'm not above enjoying the "kiddie stuff" too, I really enjoyed Moana, Pete's Dragon was unexpectedly good, and with the exception of Cars, I own every single Pixar movie.

I don't actually remember that, so I'd have to watch it again to see the context, but it must not have bothered me the 2 times I saw it.


Edit - come to think of it, I think I own every MCU movie except for Thor and Thor 2, and since I have 2 young Daughters, the regular Disney stuff is a given. At least the stuff released in the last 25 years or so.

Phasing out GUNS over time in their big franchise movies. Not fantasy weapons, death stars, lightsabers and murder/killing.

I just heard that they have been "encouraging" filmmakers to come up with alternatives. No I'm not a Disney hater. I'm a lifelong fan.
