He's not a good director anymore, nor is he a good writer (ever), but he does have great ideas.

I have to think those ideas would have been better than ''Evil Galactic Empire 2.0 with even biggererer ships and superweapons and by the way all your heroes were ****ups, you need new ones''

Or a black-masked tortured soul 2.0 and a gold robed Emperor 2.0

I would agree.

So blue milk is from Porgs?

TLJ doesn't sound like ESB 2.0, but it does have more in common with another SW movie, from the what was posted.

I think most people will like the movie, and I bet it gets great reviews, but some people here will be disappointed and angry, so those posts should be entertaining to read :)

What reviewer - in an age where reviewers are pretty much irrelevant - would be brave enough to give TLJ a bad review? OR Twittersphere maven who got invited to the premiere (and wants to get invited to the Solo movie)? You have to remember that even back in the TPM days, people like Kevin Smith initially LOVED that movie. People liked TFA solely because it was way better than the PT and people were in shock that a new SW movie could make sense.

And there won't be any "25th Anniversary" of TFA or TLJ as there was/is for the OT.

And what powered TFA to $2B wasn't regular moviegoers loving it, it was 25-50 year old hardcorers seeing it over and over and over (years ago I remember meeting a friend of a friend - in his early 30s - who had seen TPM 27 times; he's pictured in the dictionary under "masochist.") Certainly it would have crossed $1B - that's the target for any major studio franchise entry - but it's people like the users of this forum that drove TFA to the heights and so drives the brand.

I think the SW's hype and popularity as a franchise will decline after this film, similarly to how the prequel trilogy sequels became less popular than The Phantom Menace's initial success.

I really think this film is a turning point for the franchise, and I don't mean that in a bad way, but I can see some old fans saying goodbye to this story, and newer fans embracing Disney Wars.

Out of curiosity what makes you say this? Have you seen the film already?

If they kill Luke, yeah I am done with this Disney Wars....TLJ is their last chance to me from their EP 7 farts awakens new hope copy cat.

No, I just read a detailed description of the plot, that may or may not be true. That's all.

I have no idea if what I read is real, because some of it seems like a total waste, so I find that hard to believe. We'll know very soon though.

Gotcha.

I'm sure regardless of if the spoilers what you said will be correct. Its hard to do this series justice without offending someone. Especially when the studio has very safe yet ironically polarizing filmmaking sensibilities.

Since buying the rights, Disney has made Rogue One: A Star Wars Story which made more than $1.4 billion worldwide last year, as well as the soon to be released Star Wars: The Last Jedi which is tipped to the highest grossing movie of 2017.
The latest movie was screened to a select crowd in Los Angeles on the weekend and the reviews were glowing.

Jen Yamato from the LA Times tweeted: “The Last Jedi is so beautifully human, populist, funny, and surprising. I cried when one POC heroine got her moment because films like these leave their mark on entire generations — and representation matters.”

Terri Schwartz from IGN wrote: “There’s a scene in #StarWars #TheLastJedi that I keep playing over and over in my head, that is so stunning and unexpected that I don’t want to forget how I felt seeing it for the first time. This movie feels unlike any other Star Wars movie in all the ways I hoped.”

And Erik Davis from Fandango tweeted the The Last Jedi “is absolutely fantastic — gripping, touching, funny and powerful w/ gorgeous shots and the most badass battles. When it gets going, holy crap does it get going. Hands down the best #StarWars movie since Empire.”

But, whatever....hopefully I won't be spoiled 'till Thursday fan event.

I’m really tying to keep my expectations down, due to TFA, but here’s hoping it will truly be exciting and something fresh to add to the Star Wars myths. As long as it’s good and makes sense I can accept Luke bitting it but it will be nice if he makes it to the next film.
