It's already been spoiled and confirmed by multiple sources now.

You can go ahead and add gasoline to the dumpster fire.

Is the plot original?
Do they actually do the whole character development thing?
Does it try to work in real life politics?

Uh, the movie tries to have it both ways. Some original aspects, many nostalgic. Many original beats fail.
Minimal character development.
It works "real life politics" into it about as much as you would image Disney would want to work politics into it. Very broadly; nothing timely.

I put the initial plot leaks in a spoiler tag a few pages back. Since then, reddit and every movie forum on the internet has been raging about how they were all just made up garbage.

And now it turns out the guy wasn't lying at all. He saw the movie. All that ridiculous stuff really did happen. It really is canon.

I should be angry but I checked out emotionally after Disney squatted down and took a big old steamer on the SW legacy with TFA. Now I'm just laughing as it just continues to get worse and worse.

"JJ Abrams is a genius. He has an elaborate, intricate backstory all mapped out for this trilogy. We're gonna see why Rey is so special and where she's from, and why she can do things nobody else can do. We're gonna see the operatic levels of intrigue that led to Snoke's rise to power and how he's super important and the most evil character in the universe. We're going to see exactly why and how Max ended up with Luke's old lightsaber and what an incredible journey it was. They're not just making this up and leaving things blank; no way man...they have a PLAN and it's going to be amazing to sit back and watch it all unfold beautifully. It's going to put all the naysayers to shame. Trust them, they've known all along how this is all going to be the most satisfying Star Wars of all time!!"

lulz.

Thanks. That sort of confirms my fears without spoiling anything.

Edit: Can anyone link or PM me a legit plot summary please? I want to know to, you know, know, but I'm not spending $50 (that's calculating the cost of baby sitter for my daughter) to see this.
