I am in full agreement about that horrible casino scene.

But unlike the godawful PT that had great ideas from Lucas that were so poorly implemented TLJ is at the very least watchable.

At least TLJ had adult level drama.

What did you think of Luke's send off Jye?

Overlooking the sun it was a nice send off.

Had he been killed by a lightsaber like ObiWan people would be freaking out about that as well lol.

Oh wait you’re not getting off scott free mister admit it the porgs were cute.

Man up and admit it dammit lol.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Yeah i should have used "fanatics" or "nuts" rather than "fans."

As for myself, i realized along time ago that i already got my perfect trilogy and nothing was going to come close to that. So, instead of getting mad or upset i just look at these films as my EU. I have found a lot of cool things in all of them.

The thing is, I realized everytime a new movie comes out, I - and everyone else from my OT generation (and likely the prequel generation eventually) - is hoping to recapture that "feeling" they had when first seeing the originals. And its not going to happen. We were younger, in a different state of mind, and it was just a different time.

It's like music. I find new music I like, but I would probably pick something I grew up listening to over something new if I had to. It connects with a time in my life when I had fewer responsibilities and the future was open and unknown. The OT opened our eyes to a new world with characters we came to love and maybe emulate or revere. Thirty years later, anything you do to them is going to fly in the face of what many feel "should" be the fate of these characters we've talked about, watched, collected, drawn, etc. for forty years.

TFA came close to giving me that feeling. I don't think it was because it was "borrowed", but that might have been part of it (my least favorite part was the idea of starkiller base).

I didn't walk out of TLJ with that feeling but I think I might be a bit caught up in what I think should have happened (there were some lousy parts too though, things I don't think I'll like even on a second or thirtieth viewing).

It really was. For a second I thought that was going to happen when Kylo first moves his saber through him.

That reveal was so cool with him on the island. Much better than a standard hero death scene.

Not so sure that will be true after a few more viewings.. I found the PT watchable when I first saw them also..

Right on ^

Edit:

The truth is i'm bummed for those that didn't like it but can be rational about it. The people who took things way too far against Lucas not so much. In fact, this could be considered payback.

Just got back.....

8/10....really alot of fun ...best cinema experience for a long while. Crowd loved it....cheers and laughs at the right times.....I like the humor in it alot....

What I didn't like...

The BB-8 rescue on the ATST
The Horse Race.

Both were obviously for the kids....so its acceptable.

And how the hell can a movie with this budget make Yoda look 10 times worse then he did in the OT?

How about that opening scene with Rey handing Luke the Saber.....

I have NEVER been so shocked at a opening for a film like that before.....

I laughed so hard the lady next to me must have thought I cracked....

Last I checked it was still at 90% or something.

Edit: oh you guys have now resorted to using the user scores I see.

In the words of Obi-Wan "I'm so sorry." :lol

Resorted?? I would say anyone's opinion about a film is as solid as the next guy.. I am more interested in Jye;s take on a film then I am of other "paid" critics.

RT down to 56% now.

Impressive in one day.

ZaCH's now resorting to agreeing with critics. Ever the contrarian. :lol

Dunno...alot of those "scores" seem like they were written but the same writer......kinda like all those FCC "complaints"

I think we will find out RT was hacked....

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

It’s like Disney is trying to erase Lucas. Give it time and our kids/kids will swear he never existed. Sadly.

The rage on this movie will be heard even worse than EA and their lootboxes, companies have been milking the **** out of fans for quick bucks, Disney knew this movie would suck yet threatened them to raise their pricing for it...

I think it's more over reaction than rage.

There are solid, actual reasons to hate the PT, just from movie making standpoints all the way to how it treated SW.

People are just upset because of "muh luke no battle, he sad and not happy, not muh luke".

Seems like there are many more reasons people are not enjoying this film.

Wasting the viewers times with meaningless story lines being a major one.

Did you forget my post yesterday about putting stock into online review/scores? :lol

I hadn't even looked at RT until I saw you mention it was at 50%.

But yes, for once it seems I agree with accountants on this one.
