Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Add to this the fact that most internet types these day pride on being a cynic about everything.....Hell....TLJ was making fun of these people in the sub plot and I am sure they missed it.....

h_BuvkZki5dZdmpm4DHYRB7wF0Y=.gif

Sadly you cannot even escape this behavior on a hobby thread about toys.

Some people just take the whole thing to seriously......they forgot how to let go of expectations and just have fun....
That opening scene with Luke and the Saber says it all....if you cannot accept that scene you had better leave the cinema at that point

I actually thought that was great. Many of the things they did in this film seemed to be try and erase JJ Abrams set up in TFA.. I have no issue with that at all.

George Romero once said...

"People today, looking back on the three zombie films... I think that there are really split camps. There are some people that you can't get 'em away from the first film, you know, that's their love. And there are some people that just sort of celebrate and party with Dawn of the Dead. It's sort of the wildest of the three. It was also the most popular. And then there are the trolls, you know, who like Day of the Dead."

I would say the trolls are the ones that like Land, Diary, and Survival :lol

I think SW has split as well.....those who wan a fun adventure film and those who want their SW serious as possible...with every minutia explained in detail. The first film has a plethora of unexplained lines....no one said anything (like what the Kessel Run? or Wait Clone wars??? Whats that ?? Explain!). They just enjoyed the characters and story..... George went about explaining it and what you got were some very poor PT films...

I think ANH and ESB does a great job of being serious and Fun. I thought ROTJ tried too hard to be fun but it still had plenty of drama.

TFA was a rip off of ANH and not in a good way..

TLJ is a step in the right direction but as I keep pointing out.. They just don;t seem to get what to do with the other characters.

Both films suffer with less then stellar scripts.. But for different reasons.

AS for explaining things.. I agree.. I don;t need to know where Snoke came from.. But Damn it.. I need to know how Maz got Luke's saber :lol

I am a bit shocked at the crap effects some of these major blockbusters seem to think is acceptable....JL I am looking at you! Yoda looked better in OT!

I just thought he looked chunky.. I am not 100% sure that he was not a puppet.. I don;t recall any major CGI emotion ala the PT. Is there a chance it was just a not perfect looking puppet.

I can't believe some of you guys went into this movie thinking Luke was going to go super saiyan and lift up 10 walkers and implode them on his own or something. That's just ridiculous and tone/immersion breaking. No wonder why you are dissapointed.

The way he used the force, that **** was awesome.

I'll tell you one more thing I DID like about it - I don't have to spend money on the lame Praetorian Guards now. Bunch a bums.

Are you serious?

That's obviously foreshadowing Luke being astrally projected. They wanted to show you that when the salt was kicked up, it had a red under surface. Something that didn't happen when Luke appeared on Crait.

If some of yall actually payed attention to the movie rather than disagreeing with it at every turn, you'd probably like it. :lol

But it does not matter.. Either way we would have found out the answer.. So what.. Its my point about finn and Poe.. We still would have gotten to the same conclusion..

If you would just pay attention to how little most of the story mattered in this film you might understand why people have issues with it :lol

No, cause it's stoopid.

Plus you could tell by his hair, he was projecting himself like he was when he left his temple not his longer haired version on the island.

No it wasn’t, he didn’t do jack squat, he just matrix’d the saber escapes knowing he couldn’t fight. It was a mix of how he was acting in the film, you are talking about the guy who fought his father and destroyed the empire, and went into hiding like a B after questioning his actions? They made him into a jedi master and even Windu was more bad a** than the legendary luke, thats sad

Thankfully that casino planet did go by quickly and are you ready for this i’ll take that casino scene over the rathtar scene from TFA,

I like what Xipomarx just said about the shock of seeing Luke throwing the saber it was nice to be surprised in that manner in a SW movie.

Yeah rathtar scene is brutal. I have to agree

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Thing is when you read a couple of chapters in a book and the story does not go the way you though it was going you don't get upset you simply realize the book is not for you and you stop reading and move on to something else. Maybe it's time for some folks who thought they that they were going to like Star Wars to accept that it was not meant to be.

If you've read more than a couple of chapters from the books now consigned to the category of 'Legends', then the Sequel Trilogy is irrelevant.

That was my view before TFA, and it still stands.

TFA wasn't a bad film, but for me it's only a 'what if...?' story. Therefore, that will be stand for the trilogy.

Why be compelled to throw out a perfectly good canon just because something is now live action rather than in print?

It's not hate for the sequels, it's indifference.

Luke's death is on par with Padme dying from a broken heart.

I thought the same thing. Looked like Luke used all of his life force doing the projection, so I'm satisfied that he sacrificed himself to help the rebels. Sorta like Obi-Wan, but not so much.

I’m actually thinking about this movie quite alot which is good.

Visually striking and super kinetic.

I slept on a goddamn freezing cold dirty Manhattan sidewalk with a bunch of stormtroopers, lame dressed Jedi’s and a pregnant girl with a death star painted on her belly just for PT tickets.

I know what being let down by SW feels like and TLJ wasn’t it lol.
