You havn’t presented any evidence that your statements are objectively true. You just say that they are. There’s nothing to discuss.

I can say that the movie is objectively well made. That counters everything you’ve said. Look at that pointless exchange we’ve just had.

How do you think the movie is “inconsistent with it’s internal logic?” Maybe I can counter that, maybe I can’t. But so far you’re not saying anything factual.

There are those on right and left who saw the same thing.. My very liberal Sister In law who has a doctorate in medical research (just pointing out she is not dumb ) stated how much she loved all the "messages" in the film..

When you talk about the worst people and then go to a rich looking snooty alien stroking his tentacle mustache it is pretty obvious what the joke is they were going for.

Like I said it took a bit to find out they were doing anything else except being rich. I also go by Hollywood's track record on such things

Seems like there are a lot of people out there who think the same thing.


Again there are plenty of films that have little messages that I do and don't agree with.. It depends on the film if I feel like getting that sort of thing.. A Star Wars film is not the movie I want to have that in.. No matter if I agree with the message or not. Like Abusing animals.. I don't like it either.. But I don't need that message in a Star Wars film either.. Not in the ham fisted way they did it.

If the film/story been better it would be easy to ignore these things.

I just don't think that one throw away line equates to them going full "Sarah McClachlan" on the animals but to each their own.

Do you know what one of my biggest problems actually is with this new trilogy? Why after having a real, flesh like replacement hand created for him in Empire Strikes Back, does Luke now have a stupid robotic looking one?

The fake flesh didn't last brah.

Did his hand have skin on it as he stood over Ben's bed? That would have been cool if they had said that it burned off in the fire when he was pinned under the rubble. Then his hand would have been a constant reminder of that one moment for the rest of his life.

Stop giving them box office money. This kind of approach is why a movie like this could still be considered a huge success in the end.

If you don't like it, don't go see it. Saw it once, I remember the entire movie, I listened to the two sides, those who love it and those who hate it, and I know where I stand.

Plus you can download the cam rip if you want to take another look at specific scenes.

Huh? Logic isn't tethered to subjective tastes. Right? My initial argument is that when you defend a film riddled with internal inconsistencies that also breaks the logic of the franchise, you can't defend the broken logic by saying, "Yeah well, it looks pretty." That doesn't matter. It's still broken.

You're telling me that I need to provide evidence? No I don't. It's a matter of logic. X=X. No evidence necessary. The statement X=/X is illogical. No evidence necessary. I suppose if you want to be an annoying skeptic, I could provide evidence that logic is intelligible because we perceive constants, so logic reflects the world as we perceive it. Do you perceive constants? Or are you trapped in some sort of Post Modernist Matrix, bumping into furniture everywhere you go because you believe reality is a construct? If so, I'm sorry that academia has put you in harm's way.

As for the internal flaws within the movie, they're all over the place. It's tedious having to go back through them. Just watch this video:

One true fact is the audience approval is the lowest for any Star Wars movie. That's subjective too because Rotten Tomatoes wasn't out during the OT. Either Johnson is a genius and created this controversy to keep hype and ticket sales or Disney truly believes in him. Either way no one can steal my nostalgia from the Originals and the enjoyment those bring, ultimately its someone else's story and we have to eat whatever they spoon us. #bringbackGeorge
