I'm going to remember that you used RT scores as "proof" of your opinion on this one. ;)

There's so much freaking proof...Disney Blindness has hit you hard...see your doctor

I've been saying it for years, buying out the blogger critics would only influence people to a certain extent. We're seeing an instance here where it blatantly didn't work and looks hilariously suspect. 93% vs. 55%. Imagine when it's down to 50. The disconnect is laughable.

I'm sure Disney will eventually just have their RT employees dismantle the audience rating option the way Netflix did and officially seal the book on the journalistic integrity of what we call "film critics" today.

Personal disdain for Ewoks...

If you go down in the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise
If you go down in the woods today, you'd better go in disguise
For every Ewok that ever there was will gather there for certain
Because today's the day the Ewoks have their picnic

Well, I had to go see it with my friend last night and it wasn't as bad now that my expectations had been shot. Just don't take it seriously, throw common sense out the window and try to have fun with the cool moments. I think a few things could have made this much more palatable. Have Luke agree to go with Rey after hearing what has happened since he turned him self off from the force and let it be known he doesn't even know that Ben turned into Kylo Ren or the how bad The First Order has become. Get rid of Luke trying to kill Kylo and say he went to that planet to try to figure a way of how to save him and become a better teacher. Have Leia use the force to save herself from being blown out of the ship in the first place and make her the one that crashes into Snoke's ship combining her force strength with the warp drive. Luke shows up for real at the end instead of being a projection and fights a epic fight with Kylo and then let's Kylo slice him in two and he dissolves into the force. I guess that's more than a few things.

I knew something was amiss when Kathleen fired the two directors of the Han Solo movie followed by Collin Trevorrow on Episode 9!
If those two movies tank it will be interesting to know what direction the original guys were gonna take those movies in. Will be a tell tale sign of whether they were cuckoo or it's Kathleen who knows nothing about Star Wars!

The irony is that she fired Lord an Miller from the Solo film due to the fact that they weren't respecting the typical Star Wars tone and were injecting way too much humor into the original script. But she let The Last Jedi happen...

It's called the "Last Jedi", but contradicts itself by having Broom Boy at the end hinting at the " Return of the Jedi". Ep.9 let me guess Rey VS Kylo, The End

Especially of the alien giant Llama camel type. :lol

Yeah just like the previous 6 SW movies that preceded this one the movie isn’t perfect.

All this Disney hate and the harsh reality is this:

Marquand didn’t give us a perfect SW movie with ROTJ.
Lucas himself didn’t give us perfect SW movies THREE TIMES IN A ROW!
JJ Abrams didn’t give us a perfect SW movie.
Gareth didn’t give us a perfect SW movie.
Rian didn’t give us a perfect SW movie.

Should I say it again....

The creator himself didn’t give us perfect SW movies 3X in a row!

The backlash against Lucas is not what lead to Disney it was Lucas surrounding himself with YES people that lead us down the path to Disney.

Yep.. A lot of non perfect SW films.. Its why I really am only a big fan of the OT as I don't even hate the EWOKS :)

My thoughts are the following , I didn't dislike TLJ for being different I disliked it for not following a story that was set up by TFA. For two years we wondered who Snoke was, whos Ray's parents, Who are the Knights of Ren, How did Maz have Lukes saber, Will Finn also become a Jedi, what will Luke do with his Fathers saber he hasn't seen since Empire, how will Chewy cope with losing Han. Almost every one of these HUGE plot points were not addressed. Luke being disgruntled I get that, but turning his back on everything and giving up is ridiculous, at least have him "eventually" train Rey for the greater good of the Republic. The secondary plot of Finn and Rose was a waste of time, send Finn after Rey and have Luke decide to train him and not Rey. Really disappointed worst than the PT because they had such a good foundation with TFA. Only thing enjoyable was Kylo, and they destroyed his helmet which was the coolest thing about him.

Personally how I feel also.

It's because this film leads up to the founding of Hogwarts, at which time the Jedi are known as wizards.

It was foretold by Uncle Owen.

"That wizard is just a crazy old man. Now, tomorrow I want you to take that R2 unit to Anchorhead and have its memory erased. That'll be the end of it. It belongs to us now."

There was a Cracked video that I posted a while back that talked about how Horrifying the Ewoks really were.

Fact is... Even people I talk to at work and in my personal life are split down the middle. There also has not been much buzz about this one.. Even from those that like it.

Lucas didn't think he'd made perfect films either, so he made Special Editions. There was a backlash to those as well.

There's probably no such thing as a perfect film because there's always something that could've been done differently on a subjective level.

No, it makes perfect sense if you're a sensitive idealist! The title wasn't meant to describe anything that actually takes place in the story. It was meant to describe Luke's feelings! :rotfl For the first time in the franchise, a film has been named after the internal conflict within a protagonist. It's about getting in touch with your inner self. A story about... identity. :lol

What doesn't make sense, is that Luke was comfortable with Kylo dominating the galaxy, while he hid on an island. Then, when someone asked Luke for help to train, so that they could become powerful enough to defend the galaxy, Luke's response was a load of existential nonsense regarding the selfishness of being a Jedi because no one can be more special than anyone else...

I walked into JL with shot expectations but it didn’t pan out lol

So TLJ was all about identity crisis?

a period of uncertainty and confusion in which a person's sense of identity becomes insecure, typically due to a change in their expected aims or role in society.

That probably best describes why the questions created by TFA were ignored by TLJ.

Look what I posted on 1/5/16 a few weeks after the release of TFA:

Hey guys here's a "What if?" scenario I came up with that would have allowed TFA to be pretty much the same movie but with a WILDLY different ending that would guarantee no one would be braced for any more retreading of the OT in future episodes. It was just a thought I had on a way they could have gone. And that is this:

Imagine if Starkiller got off a shot right before Poe took out the Oscillator. The beam streaks through space and DESTROYS the Resistance base, Princess Leia and all. But also imagine if Snoke was NOT a hologram and was instead this giant alien sitting on a throne right there at...Starkiller Base. The planet explodes. Snoke dies.

Instead of the Resistance celebrating and Snoke off being like Palpatine on another world we instead end with no Resistance High Command, no Leia, no Snoke, no legions of First Order soldiers. Just Rey, Finn, Chewie, Luke and the remnants of Poe's X-Wing squadron vs. Hux, Kylo and Kylo's single Star Destroyer.

In Episodes 8 and 9 Rey would be training under Luke while they try to rally planets, gather a makeshift army of various aliens, ships we've never seen before, while Kylo and Hux seek the aid of whatever dark powers or criminals they can find. No more sleek military armadas (which might make TFA cooler since it would then have given us one last battle of that nature.) Have it be a totally different kind of war, more personal and to the last man (and woman.)

Rian Johnson is the MAN! :rock
