They killed QUINT the the only real working man in Jaws!!! It’s an attack on the uneducated white man!!!!!!

That topic did come up in 1975 actually. Hooper was clearly the hip new generation while Quint represented the older generation; blue collar and conservative. Quint died, Hooper did not. Hip young Spielberg was accused of making a social statement with that.

No fixing it now.

Kennedy has decided to make SW a liberal owned property so right there she just alienated 50% of her audience.

She could made IX the BEST SW movie ever and it still won’t matter the damage is already done the hardcore right will never support anything she ever makes again that’s just the reality.

Kids know SW as a family event for everyone.

Reality is Kennedy/Disney just broke that decades old rule in an attempt to take SW away from 50% of families.

It was a miracle Luke wasn’t gay in this. :lol

Wow I was not aware of that.

Political messages must have evaded me in TLJ- I don't give a **** about them and it doesn't bother me at all

The future is not white.

Disney knows what its doing.

This might sound crazy from a business perspective but I think this is a very calculated move on her, Lucas and Iger’s part.

Sacrifice profits to get rid of the audience they don’t want attached to SW anymore by making these bold statements in a freaking SW movie.

They must’ve known they were going to lose box office and merchandise dollars by going in this direction, no?

Or does Disney think that the KKK is buying up Holdo toys lol.

Hell I don’t think anyone is going to be buying a Holdo toy. :lol

Ackbar’s sacrifice would’ve made that fish head even more legendary what a missed opportunity. :gah:

Don’t tell Trump that! We’re already heading into WWIII with NK. I would have been Happy with at least one more good SW movie before the fallout

Kylo makes Hopper look like John Wayne :lol

This messaging has been going on for quite some time with Disney. It's reached fever pitch recently.

This type of knee-jerk over-messaging is EXACTLY in response to white-power Trump.

Exactly.

All i’m saying is since Kennedy increased her agenda 10 fold it is only natural to have a similar reaction from the opposition especially when that opposition is in control right now.

Force met with Force that simple.

Yeah but that dismisses the general dislike of what KK did to this movie with her heavy agenda and almost sounds like “if you don’t like it you’re alt right”.

I was offended and turned off by the heavy handed politics and I’m not alt right (or whatever that is supposed to be)

Agreed. Social, political messages don’t impact my movie viewing.... if it did, I wouldn’t watch movies, tv, sports or engage people in conversation.

Oh I agree i’m the same way but i’m also not blind to the ferocious power of the social movements at play here.

I liked TLJ but it’s been immediately polarizing but even the PT eventually found an audience so TLJ will do just fine.

People see what they wanna see, on both sides. Those who go looking for politics will find it.
All I was looking for was the Force ....and Disney gave me the antifaforce instead...in this case I refused to be blind or turn the other cheek...Kennedy slapped me,my mind, the force and Star Wars itself in the face first...gonna slap back no problem

There's usually truth in the decisions made... you can't help but make choices based on what you believe. That alone can be politicized. And often is. I don't think its a 'secret agenda' where everyone meets in a dark mahogany room to discuss "the master plan"... I think its just people's preferences that lead to choices... and those decisions butt heads with other people's preferences.

And then you get a fun thread like this one.
