Sorry but you’re missing the whole point of that saber throw.
Sure hate it for the humor or meta SW message but it also served as a establishing current Luke and Jedi religion and conflict metaphors.
Just because people dislike it doesn't mean they are missing the point. Of course we get it, but when you don't like the entire movie's direction when it comes to Luke and the Jedi, this scene is where it all begins. It was an awful moment that spit in the face of those that had been waiting 2 years for this scene to actually mean something. Oh wait, right, now we aren't supposed to have high expectations with Star Wars anymore.
