Sorry but you’re missing the whole point of that saber throw.

Sure hate it for the humor or meta SW message but it also served as a establishing current Luke and Jedi religion and conflict metaphors.

Just because people dislike it doesn't mean they are missing the point. Of course we get it, but when you don't like the entire movie's direction when it comes to Luke and the Jedi, this scene is where it all begins. It was an awful moment that spit in the face of those that had been waiting 2 years for this scene to actually mean something. Oh wait, right, now we aren't supposed to have high expectations with Star Wars anymore.

Insulting...very good word to describe many scenes in the film...excellent

Throwing the saber away was saying throw the force away, throw men away, throw the past away, throw Star Wars Away, ...I picture Lucas in a trash bin right now...you didn't have watch anymore after that ...I watched but I knew at that moment it was over....God I wish Bens voice told me to "Run Adolfo Run"

Where did I say high expectations were not allowed in any of my posts. :lol

But just because it wasn’t what you were waiting for does it mean it was the wrong direction to take.

If some like it and some like yourself hate it that’s fine I just simply accepted the metaphor is all.

This movie would have benefitted so much from a kickass battle at the end between Luke and the first order.

:nono Hugh expectations are for the Dis/Marvel threads.

They are allowed, but discouraged. :lecture

He ain’t coming back.

Didn't mean to say those were your words, but that's genuinely one of the main defenses used to "protect" the film at this point. That people shouldn't have expectations based on what was presented in TFA, and this way they won't be disappointed when the movie takes an unexpected turn.
Except it's totally fine to take unexpected turns as long as they are good. I know you like the movie, but you know where I'm coming from in that regard.

agreed...and if Luke had lived the Commie revolution might not happen...A new and old Hope died Dec 2017

My biggest gripe with this movie. Either Luke and Rey vs the guards, Kylo and Snoke, or Luke vs the FO then Kylo on Crait.
But either one of those should have been in the movie, it would have redeemed a bit all the Canto Bight stuff, Leia in space, Ackbar, etc...

I cant wait for my Rose Rose and flying nun Leia Action figures...cmon Hot toys

lulz

Also a great point.

Well sorry to say but Kennedy/Disney are fully to blame here.

With the PT it was unanimous ALL SW fans hated them there was no politics involved it was all about GL raped my childhood it was unified hatred lol. .

With TLJ they went and alienated entire families that simply don’t like to be preached too or having their kids shown that all men are irrational directionless jerks.

If the US is comprised of 50% conservatives and 50% liberals then Disney lost all of those conservatives with this stunt of theirs then add the liberals who also hated it and Disney is in trouble and for what, for Holdo and Rose to shine when they already had Ackbar and Leia to shine.

I like TLJ but who cares what I like or don’t like i’m just simply pointing out that Disney shouldn’t be sloppy if they’re going to mess with SW.

Disney is the one pitting earth based ideologies against each other and opening the door for our prejudices to slip in for a movie that takes place in a galaxy far far away.

Again I like TLJ and i’m all for feminism and career advances in a protected environment for them as well as multi cultural representation BUT DON’T **** WITH SW! :lol

Now you made my porg sad.

Again I say... Make a better movie and nobody really cares.

But based on the OT itself this movie is a head spin. Luke was done with the force because of the creation of Kylo Ren a man who killed his father and his friend, Han Solo. But Luke believed there was still good in Darth Vader a father he barely knew and who had done far worse things as a Sith Lord. So instead of facing him and ridding the galaxy of evil he chose to just let it go and let Kylo do whatever he wanted unchecked? I don't buy that.

Again I say... Make a better movie and nobody really cares.

Completely agree, like you said, RO had a lot of that, but was well made and felt like Star Wars.

The worse a movie gets, the more people are going to complain about every single aspect.

I’ve got news for you Adolfo.

I liked TLJ. :lol

I own that **** baby.

Come at me bro. :lol

Only joking Jye ... like Original Trilogy Luke I won't give up on you.

Again I say... Make a better movie and nobody really cares.

Imossible to make it better no matter who wrote this without changing the Agenda...either the old ways survive or the Kennedy way does...you cant have it both ways....no way...not for Star Wars...not the film Kennedy wants to push....nope

You guys can spin it anyway you want. This movie obviously is a huge dissatisfaction to many fans. Reading that the final cut of TFA wasn’t even viewed by Rian adds salt to the wound. Call me a fanboy or an obsessed loser but I am physically sick due to this movie, it makes me angry and vile. How do you **** this up so bad?

If RO had no vader or final 10 minutes...then its just another mission in space film

I agree.. That is not a good enough reason to dislike it..

IMHO this film was a perfect combination of 1. Not meeting expectations, 2. Not really having a good script (for the haters), and 3. having an agenda.

Most important part is number 2... Have a great story and everything else is forgiven. Don't have a good sript and number 1 and 3 become a much bigger issue.
