Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

This is the first time I came out of a SW movie being genuinely disappointed. :( There were things I liked, like the whole Rey and Kylo dynamic, but there was simply too much dribble in between.

Also, the casino planet and its scenes might have been the worst thing from any Star Wars movie ever. I thought they took way too many grabs at the laugh bucket in the whole film really, and this entire thing kind of represented that aspect at its worst.

This. That whole casino/monaco part was like the PT at its worst. Animated chase scenes, dull characters, stupid "jokes"...

No, the little boy with the broom and Force powers who looks to the sky for a "when you wish upon a star" moment.

That's Disney's tag: that everyone and anyone can have the Force. Thus making it accessible to every little boy and girl, like Rap, and thus making it insignificant and common, like Rap.

It was the stupidest ****ING ending I've seen in years. **** this movie. **** Disney.

$10 says that stupid ring is going to be hawked at every Disney Store and theme park souvenir stand this time next year.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

So. The whole Twitter reactions and the one that put something like 'there's this one scene. My god blah blah blah. How stunned I was. The raw emotion. Still thinking that scene over' etc.

Which scene was that?

I kept waiting for it and then the credits rolled.

The movie was definitely better than your theory.

So Snoke being NOBODY and getting dispatched like a piece of **** is better than him being an immortal Dark-sider who was once a great Jedi warrior in the Old Republic and has a plan to bring about The Dark Side personified ??? Get the **** outta here.

still a hole other movie to go m8.

maybe your “source” forgot to mention that. :lol

Just got back, liked it a lot, definitely better than TFA. It felt kind of weird in the climax in how you basically have a climax but I knew the battle on Crait hadn't happened yet. Sad to see Luke go, but I think it's cool he didn't actually die but rather let himself become one with the force.
Since Leia is still alive I'm not sure how they're going to deal with Carrie Fisher's death in the next one. The encounter with Snoke/Kylo/Rey was great, very surprising, though I would have liked to have learned more about Snoke.
My theory that Rey's parents were nobodies was accurate. And I like that part at the end with the kid who has the Force, it's a nice moment.
I would have liked to have learned DJ's name, but I'm guessing he'll show up in the next movie.

Sounds like your theory was better...although the way you'd talk about it like it wasn't merely a theory was odd to me.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Finn, Phasma, Rose = total wastes of screen time. The movie was not cohesive at all.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

I just got home after watching this. It's not attack of the clones bad, but it's close. When Michael bay says there are too many explosions, there are too many explosions. Plus, Laura dern looked like she was from a deleted scene in the hunger games.

I could go on and on, but lastly, if we get ghost yoda, then why not obi wan and anakin? Wouldn't that be able to sort out the whole jedi vs Sith mess?

Why do people find that weird? Lucas already established that with the prequels. There are thousands of jedi. The Jedi actively seeking out force sensitive children, often born to non force sensitive parents. So what's different about this?

It's not weird. It's just forced and hilarious. Had no business closing out the movie. It was as maddening as the garbage political statement the whole Casino planet subplot was.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Just very disappointed overall. And it’s almost all about Luke. Jesus Christ can they just let the old characters join the resistance and stay besides Leia? Carrie Fisher is dead and Luke is dead in the movie so he’ll barely be in the next one if at all. I guess 3PO, R2, and Chewie will be all we got, and they were barely in this movie. They should have changed the ending once Fisher died for Luke to live and Leia die.

Toys wise, Phasma, geez I feel so bad for people who spent $250 on a Hot Toys. I have 2 SH Figuarts and I’m annoyed. I have no HTs from the new movies and that isn’t changing. I might get a TFA Rey at some point but I honestly think that would be it out of 2 movies so far.

Back then Palpatine only really has a role in ROTJ. (It was a totally different actor and voice in the original cut of ESB and it might as well have been a different character).

And he was unceremoniously killed by Vader and no one complained about his lack of story development and history. He was basically just the monster behind the monster which was a what Snoke essentially is in TLJ. He is just a plot device to build the character of Kylo like how Palpatine was a plot device to build the character of Vader (and Luke to a certain degree).

It seems everyone conveniently forgets that Palpatine backstory come like twenty years later via the PT
