Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

I'm really worried about Han Solo. I never liked the idea of a movie for him in the first place. Then they choose the wrong actor. Then the directors get fired. Then TLJ comes out ... I swear if they destroy our Han we riot.

No trailer with this film and not one journalist asked Kathleen Kennedy about it through junkets. Bet it gets delayed to next Xmas.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

Two parts of the movie that didn’t work for me was Finn / Rose Arc and anything attached to it and force pull Leia. I can live with the rest of it even the milk drinking scene that was so awkward.

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

This movie was alright. There were some good parts that made me like it, but then that feeling was ruined by the (unnecessary imo) comedic parts. I was hoping that when Luke showed up at the end to confront the First Order, he would have taken down the AT-AT's with the force from far away. And was anybody else hoping for the "man with the red flower on shirt" be Lando at the casino, or was that just me? I think that would have been pretty great, just for a cameo. And space flying Leia? No, just no.
I thought the same. It would've made sense, so I guess that was out.

I think space flying leia has got to be the worst decision in film making history. I just can't believe this was something people thought would be a good idea. It would be like replacing coca cola with a new coke, and taking the original off the shelves....

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

This is hard to verbalize, so hopefully I’ll get my point across. My problem with Solo originated the second I heard the timeline they were using. It’s one thing to have a 30 something Ewan play an iconic character we relate to as being in his 60s. Even if they didn’t look alike, it’s easy to suspend your disbelief. Now we associate both actors with the character. Same with Anakin, ect. Having a 28 yr old portraying Solo when we all associate a 30 year old Ford to THAT version of Solo Isn’t working in my mind. It’s too close, I guess. Had the Solo movie been about a teen han, mb that would be better in my head, I dunno.

Wow.

Should have stayed home and watched Phantasm: Ravager dvd that came yesterday from Neflix.

600 seat packed IMAX and when the credits rolled, a handful of people clapped among quite grumbling.

I'm not a big star wars fan but this will be the last one I see in the theaters. I won't say it sucked, but it wasn't for me.

The stuff with Luke, Rey and Kylo were fine. But the rest was boring. Even scenes that were supposed to be exciting like the casino run was just meh.

Cocaine Covered Leia Corpse zooming through space took everything I had to keep from laughing out loud like a fool.

So the rebels are reduced to like 20 people on the Falcon. :dunno

Snoke reminded me of Jack Palance.

I liked Poe Solo more this time around.

Hate Finn.

General Hux is my favorite of the Nu-Trilo...Duo.

That beak.

Chewy and Porgs. :lol

Light Speed jump was kewl.

Blue milk straight from the ***.

Xbox Live Luke Skywalker was lame as hell. His scene could have rivaled Yoda v Dooku in excitement. Full Force mastered and saber skills increased. But no....

The PT has it faults, groan moments and sheer stupidity but was better.

SW homer buddy I went with was livid. :lol

I have full confidence Disney will deliver a great Solo movie.

That's another thing, the endings for these Disney movies aren't very Star Wars or cinematic at all.

Star Wars - the iconic throne room ceremony with the heroes standing front and center

Empire - Luke, Leia, R2 and 3PO looking off into the distance as Lando and Chewie fly off to look for Han

Jedi - happy ending with everyone celebrating the fall of the Empire, the true finale with Luke and friends

Phantom Menace - ANH style celebration with the hero victory, clever soundtrack of the upbeat chorus while still having a glimpse of a foreboding future since it's the Palpatine theme in reverse

Attack of the Clones - Anakin, Padme, 3PO and R2 during the secret wedding ceremony

Revenge of the Sith - Obi-Wan leaving and catching a glimpse of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru looking off into the distance with baby Luke.

Each one was presented as if it were a painting before it cut to black and the credits came up. The Disney movies?

Force Awakens - awkward aerial helicopter shot of the camera spinning around Luke and Rey who are just standing there??

Rogue One - awkward close up shot of a creepy looking CGI character saying "hope"??

Last Jedi - random kid with a broom stick looking up at a Disney shooting star??

Weird ****. Would have made sense to end the Last Jedi with that nice shot of the resistance aboard the Falcon, but no, cut away to random little kids.

That's another thing. Can someone explain why these Disney movies keep having a scene with kids and their cobbled together doll things? The toys in this universe are utter **** for such technologically advanced societies. You have Rey's little stuffed rebel pilot doll. Jyn's little stupid wooden Stormtrooper doll. The poor kids playing "Luke Skywalker" with these little scrapped together wire NECA figures. It's stupid, these people shouldn't be like primitive cavemen.

In the Original Trilogy, Luke played with the equivalence of a realistic car scale models that he built and painted himself. In the Prequels, Anakin's poor *** built cool toys in the form of droids and pod racers. Why are the kids in Disney Wars so backwards and simple? They're practically cave kids. Luke and Anakin weren't rich by any means, but that didn't stop them from having cool custom vehicles and ****.

wire NECA figures :lol

I bet poor a-dev would be content with a wire John Connor kid NECA figure about now.

Epic review lol

Okay.

But the real question is, are you going to buy the Hot Toys alien ***** sucking hobo Luke doll and a $260 Captain Phasma 2.0?

Hmm will it come with exclusive Just For Men treated headsculpt?

Phasma, totally forgot she was even in it. Could have been random trooper 638 that became bbq.

Movie was just like The Hobbit on loop. End please.

Nah don’t agree, Oto get off my lawn mofan, Kiwifabio and Shamed Snikt and all the others who despise this movie and everything it stands for should have as much say as the ones who liked it or even loved it.

Reading an opposite view is healthier for you in the long run it gives you a fuller understanding of cinema.

Now if only all of the opposing views were as entertaining to read as DiFabio’s and Evil’s are.

***** sucking hobo Luke :lol

this literally happened in the justice league too. all the DC weenies with their baby ears got all butt hurt and started begging and shaming people to leave

what's the point of being in a forum if you cant be around different opinions? I swear this place needs an unironic safe space

Yeah, let the babies have their bottles, so long as they’re full of green milk. ;)

Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi SPOILER DISCUSSION THREAD

You scroll thru reviews? They are all 1, 3, 2, 1 .......how they hell are they getting 8? Unless a ton of people voted, as said, before seeing it. Or it's a BS poll. Something isn't lining up. It's getting killed in the comments.

I scrolled down a through several pages. There were a couple of 5s and 6s (nothing higher) but mostly 1s, 2s, and 3s like you said.

That's pretty astonishing for a SW movie.

I was always going to dislike TLJ to a certain extent: while TFA was a likeable movie in its own right, the story and the world they dropped the characters into didn't hold any meaningful interest.

So, you expect TLJ to be more of the same: a bit more 'what if...?' Star Wars.

I just didn't expect TLJ to be so fundamentally bad. I mean at the basic level of film making. AOTC had some terrible dialogue, but it was delivered in a kind of campy style. TLJ had some bad dialogue, but it was the stilted delivery that made it even worse. Daisy often sounded like she was performing in her first school play. It was embarrassing to watch, and then you feel relieved when she starts delivering her lines convincingly.

Feel one missed oppertunity was having Lando, even as a background easter egg, in the casino. Known gambler and scoundrel, would have worked me thinks.

I am fine with opposing views. Complain. But acting like children and the sky is falling and even attempting to revise history by claiming that The Phantom Menace is better is tad overboard. Maybe after they cry in a fetal position for a few days they will snap out of it.

Certainly would have helped to make that whole scene remotely palatable. Only reason it was there was for the ending with the kid.

I feel like there are still people here having a tough time accepting the truth that this is a terrible movie. They're fighting the pull to the Light but should just learn to let go.
