Building my custom PC later in the week, when all of the stuff comes in. If all goes well, I'm going to pick this up.

You can uses spaces in your name? Thank god..friggin WoW and their stupid naming restrictions.

No. There's a dash in there I left out, sorry. It's "Tayril-Vandon".

And, Khev, welcome to GOOD Star Wars. BioWare's stuff is the best thing in the franchise since 1983.

I'm actually inclined to agree. Before the whole "only two" thing came up in TPM the TOR cinematic with the Sith crashing into the Jedi Temple and slaughtering the Jedi is exactly what I imagined the PT to be like. The old 1980 Topps trading cards labeled Vader "Lord of the Sith" so I always assumed there were other Sith out there that weren't key to the plot of the films.

I haven't been this hungry for anything EU since I was a kid and saw Han Solo at Star's End at an elementary school book fair for the first time. :lol :rock

HOLY. CRAP. This is an awesome game! Starting out as a Bounty Hunter and loving it. 2011 brought a new level of SW immersion with Star Tours 3D and TOR.

Agreed. I'm having a blast with this game and playing an MMO again after quitting WoW a few months ago has been great. I was worried my computer wouldn't be able to run this, but thankfully it can run it pretty smoothly if I put all of the settings on low, turn off shadows, and bump my resolution down. I'm going to buy a new graphics card at the end of the month, so hopefully it will run even better after I get that.

I'm really enjoying this game as well. I've got my bounty hunter to level 18 and finally got my ship. Hard to believe up until now I've only been playing the prologue. I'd be a lot higher but I couldn't resist leveling up some other characters to at least level 10.

I've got in addition to my 18 Bounty Hunter a 11 Jedi Knight, 11 Jedi Consular, 12 Sith Warrior and 13 Trooper.

As much as I love playing this game I am finding it difficult to juggle this game with some other games. I know I could be playing TOR for a long time and never get around to other games so I'm trying to play console games as well as TOR. That is the crappy thing about MMO games. You neglect all other games because MMO's last such a long time. I really don't want to miss other great games so I've got to try and share my time with TOR and other games. TOR keeps tugging at me though. :lol

MMO's go on for years. Take your time. Hell, i'm still playing LOTRO on and off.

Sith Assassin female lvl 23
Jedi guardian male 11

Gonna make a smuggler(alien) BH, and probably the rest of the jedi/sith classes. Hell, i may do em all eventually.

Well I guess my issue comes from the fact that I really want to play and I don't want to miss out on the beginning of the TOR hype and it's busy era. I don't anticipate it's popularity dropping but I want to play while there are a lot of people my level range to play with.

Level 44 and really enjoying the Jedi Consular storyline. It slowed down a bit during the 30's but now things are getting interesting.

Didn't Bioware say they had some REALLY cool stuff they were going to release with the game a few months later because it was too big to release with the game?

Hey guys, I've got a few newbie questions:

Does how you control your character increase his combat effectiveness? For instance, does strafing back and forth in a shootout make it harder for you to be hit or does it not matter since both parties just "lock on" to their targets?

Does distance matter? I've charged enemies blasting away but I seem to have the same accuracy regardless of how far away I am.

Most of my armor is toast with zero points of durability remaining and my blaster is now "broken" as well after I overheated it during a barrage of fire against a big patrol droid. I'm kind of a mess. :lol Are we supposed to do something to prevent our equipment going to pot or does it just wear out forcing you to buy replacements?

1 - Movement doesn't matter 95% of the time. A player or NPC's accuracy is based on stats. However some attacks have a maximum range and some attacks will affect targets within a certain range of an attack area. if you see a weird symbol on the ground or other animation... Lightning, earth shattering, ect... that denotes an area attack (also called an AOE attack) and you should probably move away from it if it causes you damage. The only time movement really matters in MMO fights is positioning to avoid enemy attacks (to the extent possible) while maximizing your attacks. In operations and flash points you may have to move in and out of a certain range (also called "jousting") to fight some bosses.

2 - Covered by above.

3 - You need to repair your equipment periodically to keep it from breaking. You can do this at any vendor (even medical droids) except for class trainers. When you look at the vendor window there is a tab for repairing equipment. Additionally at the bottom left of the vendor window is a button labeled "repair all". This will repair all damaged equipment. You should use the "repair all" button most of the time... I can only see repairing equipment individually if you are very low on credits. Your blaster is probably broke from damage and not overheating... Heat is a separate mechanic similar to power or mana from what I understand.
