So what you're saying is that Trekkies might actually get laid.
It's TREKKER.....not Trekkie!!!!
No reason you can't like both. I do.
Diora Baird >>>>>>>>>>>> Rachel Nicols.
Plus, Orion Slave Girls always get mistaken for She-Hulk anyway.
Nope, disagree completely. I love them both, but in different ways. Not like Betty and Veronica, but like 2 favorite uncles.
The new ST movie was good. For a regular movie, damn good. But let's not get too crazy here.
Anybody remember what happened to Matrix II & III?!
Some (small, yet confusing) issues for me:
1) Why did Spock let Nero get ahold of the Red Matter in the first place? Is the stuff impossible to destroy or something? If so, what is Star Fleet gonna do w/ it now? They got a ton of it and just a mere drop can make a singularity. And don't just tell me "nothing". If this was the old Trek movies, Spock would find a way to make another black hole or circle the sun or something and return to the future but before the shockwave hits Romulus (er, I mean the whale talking tube destroys earth), thus restoring the timeline we're all familiar with. No? Okay then, Spock. Just go off in defeat to your humiliated colony of 10,000 Vulcans. Quitter.
2) Is Star Fleet now capable of easily wippin' up on the Klingons now that Old Spock has given them this "from the future mind of Scotty" beaming tech or even using the Red Matter itself? Seems like it could be used in a way to totally and completely defeat them sound as a pound. But what fun would that be right? No way we don't see Klingons (or the even creepier "Burger Kingons") in some major role in Star Trek Reboot II. Batman will always need his Joker...(at least for 1 picture.)
3) I guess I don't understand why Nero came out of the blackhole 25 years ahead of Spock. Somebody help me with that one. And what was he doing for 25 years after killing Kirk's dad anyways? Practicing his spear throwing? Why not go to (the new timeline) Romulus and tell them what happens in the timeline he's from? I don't get this at all. His "revenge" plan totally sucked. For being Star Trek, there's quite a bit of logiclessness. (Yes, I just made up that word in my basement.)
4) Did earth put up ANY fight confronting Nero's ship before the Enterprise arrived to save the day? That woulda been nice to have seen at least a little resistance. And that whole giant laser fron the sky thing was done in the Enterprise tv show anyways. Shouldn't that still be part of this new timeline? It still woulda happened before Nero came back. Go ahead, ask chief engineer Trip about his sister....Oooh........too soon? Oh, yeah, forgot he's dead too. Glad Riker & Troy got a good chuckle out of that one.
I could go on & on and really start to sound like an embittered nerd, but I won't. At least with Star Wars, one can just say, "It's the will of the Force" or "Star Wars is just a fairy tale in space, it's not science and logic like Star Tre-" Oops! I guess we can't use that crutch anymore either...
I have always been a Star Wars fan (most recent stuff not included), but never thought of myself in a group like Trekkies do. I say Trekkies is the real, less dork term for Trek fans, but even Trekker sounds cooler than Fanboy. Where did that come from, and is that all there is to group Star Wars fans together? It was almost better to think Star Wars had no name for its collective fans. I hope Fanboy means something more general, but I hear it used a lot of Star Wars freaks lately. Is it specific to Star Wars, or is there some other term I'm not familiar with for them?
