I don't know how many of you visit Rebelscum, but the ForceCast podcast the other day had a long interview with one of the Rebelscum guys about the items and TF and they had the low down on the polystone pewter issue before offical SSC word, I suggest checking it out if you want to get some great info and first hand reviews of these and other items.

That's good to know. Still, those podcasts do tend to go on and on, which makes weeding out useful info a bit of a chore, at least for me.

Well, there's a new blog update on the Chess Set, to usher in the Wednesday.

Looks lovely -- the table is actually polystone, and the figures are pewter. Not bad at that price point, not at all.

Surely this must be a portent of great preorders (WITH and exclusive, please!) and announcements to come, right?

I think it could be possible that the info on the chess set is a hint towards the announcement later today. I'm hoping chewie...:chew

Maybe it's all a crazy idea, I'm going to guess that the new announcement is Star Wars environments (much like Jabba et al), but for the Milennium Falcon. The chess table is an expansion piece for that environment.

Chewie or the droids would follow soon. The next figure announced will be Tatooine Luke, with the CIV exclusive figure being Tatooine Luke with blast shield helmet.

Part of me is thinking this new article about the Chess Table is the ""big announcement"", I know that would probably sadden many, myself included, but it wouldn't surprise me either.

Naw. The chess table was announced allready. It will be something new and related to CIV, me thinks. Smack me if I'm wrong.

I’m sure that is what it is. After all, Toy Fair is primarily a retailer show. Sideshow wouldn’t delay anything that wasn’t an exclusive until the end of the show or they could miss potential retail business opportunities.

Correct. Anything held back until the end of the show must be something that doesn't impact the retailers. Like a Sideshow convention exclusive, for instance. They probably figured that the end of Toy Fair was as good a time as any, publicity wise, to announce their official plans for C4 to the fans.

You don't want an exclusive announcement (from which retailers will not benefit) to overshadow the new merchandise being solicited at Toy Fair. So it makes sense they they would stick it on at the very end.

Or it could be something that isn't Exclusive but is a big deal that the retailers know of but has been locked under tight security, I've been following the RS Toy Fair coverage and it sounds like things are being discussed at the even that aren't for public ears just yet, so it could be anything. Whatever it is, as long as it's not just the Chess update, I'll be glad because there hasn't been a Sideshow announcement in any SW line since I've been on the Sideshow train that hasn't blown me away and caught my eye and wallet.
