Well the problem, for lack of a better word, with OT only fans is that they don't like or want anything prequel related simply because it is prequel related. I think the Sideshow version will be the one to have because people want the OT version even if the prequel version in both movie and statue form looks better and more life like. As someone who loves the whole saga and the EU (Still devastated, thanks Disney!) I personally prefer the gentle giant one but am very aware I am in a small minority.

The gentle giant version is nice but it is not definitive for me. I don't hate the prequels as much as many do, but a prequel Yoda is not for me. Nothing resonates more to me than Yoda in the empire strikes back.

And I also hope their material choices last better than the illusive concept yodas that I have seen! Many of the ones I have seen rotted / deteriorated badly. What material was the bust made of?

1200-1500 is what it should be but I am not optimistic. If I had 3k to spend on a life size yoda I'd get gentle giant's on the secondary market over this anyway.

For $3000 (or even less) you should/could get the Cyberman Yoda, which is and will still be years ahead of anything Sideshow can make.

I would have bought it at 1k day one. At 1.5 I probably would have eventually talked myself into it. A penny more than that? Pass.

This is true... Nothing SSC could make would be near what Cyberman has done. Phil's Yoda is dead on.
