It kinda reminded me of Earth 2. If anyone remembers that :lol got canceled before the first season was done. However I enjoyed the opening episode. If they do finally find some planet to inhabit and try to survive. I think the dynamics between that and the people themselves would make for interesting television.

Yeah, granted some of the last episodes got kind of lame I feel that the writers got notice to wrap up the show at the last minute so they tried to tie up as many loose ends as possible.

I got that feeling in some of the last episodes as well. And I didn't feel the last few episodes did the show justice as an ending.

I'm with you guys and felt that they are trying to copy BSG's formula for success. I'm not sure how much I like this show yet as I miss the familiar faces of the past SG shows, but I always give a new show 5 episodes to prove itself.
Are they ever. They even had a sex scene, a first for Stargate I'm sure.
SGU was okay, though I really stopped liking the Stargate TV Series after the first Showtime season.
To me, the Stargate movie was really about combining archeology and Sci-fi; the series seemed to do away with the archeology or just shoved it mostly to the side and is now like a wannabe Star Trek.

And the Stargate shows have some of the worst looking Spaceship designs I've ever seen. Going Warp drive was a huge mistake for the franchise.

I was a little surprised by the sex scene, it didn't bother me though. And from the previews it looks like there may be another. At least I think I caught of glimpse of two dark faces horizontally face to face.

I like the space ship designs. They are very original imo, but I do agree that adding so much space travel by ship did take away some of the originality of the show.

stargate atlantis got cancelled:horror:horror when the hell did that happen?? i've got 1-2-3-4 seasons on dvd, so is there a 5th or the 4th the last??

downloaded universe and just watched it and yeah it looks alot like BSG, but there's nothing wrong with that imo. really liked the show and hope it can keep up the good long run.:D

I was very disappointed that Atlantis got cancelled. I thought it was just hitting it's stride.

yeah me too. I absolutely loved that last year... the overall feel of it, and the interactions between John Sheppard and "Todd" were always a highlight for me.

Surprisingly I ended up loving Woolsey being in charge. Also.. I love the title sequence.... that's how it should be done!

As for SGU... I liked it. It's new Stargate (and in general... new sci-fi) so I'll be watching... but it's no Battlestar that people keep referring to. Yes it's dark... but the quality of the scripts, the music, everything... is not even close to Battlestar quality.

But then I think we've been spoiled by Battlestar, and can't allow ourselves to expect everything to be that good.

This is Stargate... so I'll be watching :D

Nobody is saying SGU equals BSG in quality. We're saying that it's obvious that SGU is borrowing heavily from BSG for atmosphere, characters, and plot.

Quadcent, the fifth season is out on DVD.

Som slightly off topic, but it seems that BSG is getting alot of priase here. I was thinking about getting it on DVD to watch. I take it you guys would recommend it? Is it better than Firefly? That was another I am contemplating.

I'll probably get around to both eventually. Just trying to decide which to go for first.

Well, Firefly only lasted less than a season, so it's over quicker. BSG lasted 4 years.....If you ask my humble opinion, BSG is better, while I think Firefly is very good. Nothing on TV compares to BSG, maybe Dexter, but I would start with Firefly, then segway into BSG

oh i didn't mean it like that.... i should have said "it's no BSG... the program that people are comparing the style too"

I know exactly what you meant

thanks for that, i'll be picking the 5th up for sure.
now for firefly been better than BSG.....as much as i love Firefly, BSG is leaps and bounds ahead of firefly imo. yes firefly was great but we only got a handful of episodes to get into the characters, while BSG had 4 to 6 seasons (how ever you'd like to split them up:rolleyes:) and by the end i truely felt like i new most if not all the characters.
while the ending was somewhat drawn out, when looking back on the whole series, the ending i think was a perfect fit for show.

depends on how much time you've got to watch them.
a good weekend, go with Firefly of course.
a good month or more, go for BSG :naughty

either way you can't go wrong with either one. Firefly is nice that you can watch any episode out of the series and really never miss out on anything, while BSG needs to be watched from beginning to end, or you'll miss out on something.

Thanks for all the advice. As fr length, it hardly bothers me, I recently watched all 15 seasons of Stargate(s). So I'm cool with the long haul. :lol

I'd go and buy Firefly first. You can get the complete collection on DVD for $20 and OWN one of the best tv shows ever. Then once you are done salivating over that show I'd go and buy the BSG complete set.

~~Trust me once you watch both shows you'll realize how both are the best examples of what a series (let alone a Sci Fi series) should try to emulate. I've recommended a lot of people to try BSG and only one person has said they have not liked it, and that one person doesn't really count because he's a douche and can't understand how its different than Star Trek.

If you do go with Firefly, don't forget to pick up the movie Serenity. But don't watch it until you've seen the series.

Anyway, how 'bout that SGU? :lol

This show is really starting to grow on me. The characters. I like Eli a lot. I think he's very funny. I can't stand Rush at all! This last episode wasn't extremely exciting but I hope this show does well.
