The movie is about a killer klown from outer space and about kids cursing

Sounds obvious that there will be a lot of laughing from the audience given the subject.

Yeah tha sounds about right.

My wife laughs during the Exorcist but not at it.

Just more of a holy crap that's insane kind of laugh.

While watching Halloween 1, F13th 1, Blair Witch original, Paranormal Activity, Sinister 1 and The Witch I did not laugh.

Laugh it up fuzzball.

My audience was pretty on point with the reactions after the Georgie scene. People were being pretty annoying at first (talking, giggling, texting) and I thought there was going to be a problem, but after that opening, you could feel the attitude towards the movie change. I was happy that everyone was silent whenever Pennywise was talking as well. You could feel the energy in the room and every one was dialed in and engaged when he was on screen.

Some horror movies are made better with audience participation.

One good example of this, based on personal experience, would be watching Halloween III with friends - without telling them that the story is different from the rest of the series. The reaction from hardcore Myers fans is priceless (no disrespect to them). :lol

OMG tell me about it I was there opening night for H3!

It wasn't until the last minute of the movie that I finally accepted that Myers wasn't showing up lol

Best horror movie with an audience was Soul Plane

Perfect bait for me thank you very much.

Whenever I go to a horror movie I hope there is a black audience because they absolutely enhance the experience.

They get so invested into the movie they wear their emotions on their sleeves they start yelling at the characters to run or calling them dummies lol.

Love it.

Whites are freaking boring, Khev will be passing his grey poupon over to me during a F13th movie, so thrilling lol.

Then again Khev in a Star Wars movie might be a different experience.

Your gonna hate it . Lol
I kinda do... a bit.
Mostly because half of IT (haha, so easy) is very good but the other half is pretty bad.
Worthless melodramatic finale dragged like a mother****er, I was in so much pain while tryin' to sit through it (lol)... knowin' that there wont be any setup.

They could have fix halloween 3 very easy by saying that the clown mask that little michael wore that night was part of an early shamrock set of masks or an experiment in trying to use the Stonehenge rock in the mask he wore...

Michael didnt even need to show up but they could have connected the movies and build up on the backstory.

True and they tried going the witchcraft path in later movies but with horrible results as everyone is aware by now.

The reboot now will be going back to "The Shape".

Myers name won't even be mentioned he will just be a mysterious force with an occasional glimpse, same as with the new Spawn movie lol.

The most ridiculous laughing episode I recall in a theater was seeing Eastern Promises. During the fight in the showers, where Viggo goes full nude, three women behind me were guffawing like crazy. They wouldn't stop, in fact, until I turned around and essentially berated them for it, because I was trying to watch the film. It is a coping mechanism for people who are uncomfortable, and that's probably a big reason why this would happen in genuinely scary horror films.

I saw Halloween H20 during opening night, and after the opening scene, the lights dimmed. When they turned back on, there was a guy in a Myer's suit standing in the front. He started walking down the aisles, just staring at people. A couple of black girls were sitting a bit in front of me, and when he got close to them, they got out of the seats and ran away screaming as he chased them out. It was amazing.

When i go to haunted houses the greatest times for me are behind big groups because they make it so much fun. 10 times more fun

Dumb whites sitting there waiting to get killed lol

I really enjoyed this movie overall but I admit.....I wish Tim Curry could somehow magically be plucked from the tv miniseries and inserted seamlessly into the new one. The old one had its flaws, but I honestly cannot say that Curry was one. He acted the HELL out of that role and I just didn't feel the true menace behind Pennywise in Scarsgard's performance. Maybe it was the CGI or the actual character design? Eh, who knows. But when Tim Curry's Pennywise got serious, and he had those deadpan eyes and that mouthful of glossy, blunt teeth...he was scary as hell.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the second Chapter.

And as for audience, I, too, got a completely sucktastic one and I do think it affects your experience as a whole. Full on laughter throughout the entire thing as others have reported, and full on TALKING through it. I don't know how you can be engaged in a movie if you're too flipping distracted, and in the process distracting others. A guy behind me spilled what sounded like a gallon sized soft drink in his lap (seriously- the 'SPLOOOSSSSHHHH' sound was epic), and someone was answering their phone. I wanted to go Pennywise on the whole damn theater.

I still haven't seen the new movie so I can't comment on Skarsgard but I think I get what you're saying about Curry.
