Something I didn't notice in the movie was in the library scene the librarian is freaking smiling all creepy at the kid in the back.

Not really a spoiler.

I did notice that. I think she (?) was out of focus but it did look like she was staring and grinning at the kid. But then when nothing happened with her I assumed I must have been mistaken.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I actually thought that was one of the scariest parts of the movie. Lol. I kept thinking she was going to do something, but she just stood there in the background and kept leering at Ben. Even doing nothing else, that alone was still super creepy.

Saw IT today......really good.

His acting in first scene with Georgie was excellent. (although the CG there was sub-par) The way he speaks in just creepy. "Take iiit-ta...."

Kids killed it with acting. Thumbs up.

That was Pennywise in disguise at that moment.

And yeah that whole sequence was the scariest part for me...and the reveal of the head in the tree. it felt like something real you would see...really freaky

I just got back.. Enjoyed this throwback.. Always hated the TV movie so it was nice to see this done proper. Far from perfect and not scary but still fun.

Audience I was with Sucked... Laughed at everything.. Everything!!! I know there was a lot of jokes but they were laughing anytime a kid would swear.. Lady next to me would not shut up either...

I will enjoy this much more with a second viewing :)

I had the same problem at my local theatre - the audience laughed at every single sexual joke (no matter how predictable it was) while I was dead silent.

If an audience laughs during a horror movie than the movie is either not doing their job right, the scene was actually created for laughter or it's just a coping mechanism.

For instance Exorcist has been around so long now that people laugh during her crazy demonic antics but that wasn't the case when it was first released I can tell you that with certainty.

Who doesn't laugh during a Friday the 13th movie?

Halloween 1 is actually a movie that people still react to it as originally intended.

I don't know, people laughing during It won't bug me like it does for some.

I laughed multiple times during my first viewing of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (no disrespect to Tobe Hooper intended). Once when Leatherface kept trying to cut through a door using his chainsaw only to simply open the door using the knob, and a second time when Marilyn Burns kept running through the dark woods screaming - if you're being chased through a dark wood by a maniac with a chainsaw, the last thing you want to do is scream and give away your location. :lol

That being said, I still respect/understand/appreciate the film's historical value in the horror/slasher genre. I will just personally never see it as a great movie.
