Burger King Russia Demands 'It' Ban, Saying Clown Looks Like Ronald McDonald

Source: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/burger-king-russia-demands-it-movie-ban-saying-clown-looks-like-ronald-mcdonald-1042979

Burger King's Russian division has filed a complaint with the country's Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS), demanding that the movie It be banned in the country.

The company claimed that the movie's clown character Pennywise looks like Ronald McDonald and therefore works as an advertisement for the rival fast-food brand.

A spokeswoman for the FAS confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Burger King's complaint has been received and is being evaluated.

"We can't be concerned with the content of the film because the writer and director have their own creative understanding of any character," she said, adding that the agency would have to determine though whether the movie contains advertising or product placement.

Lmao if anything I would think mcdonalds or clowns would be marching in the streets protesting the movie. I thought mcdonalds would have a rage fir but they barely use Ronald anymore to care and as for clowns themselves.....well they have been reduced to horror that most of them barely can get any jobs.

I don't think I'll be able to see this movie in theaters.

People will not shut the **** up during this movie. Tonight I tried for the third time to watch this. Different neighborhood every time too. Every time I find myself asking someone to be quiet during this movie, people have made it a point to continue talking **** so I just walk out and get a refund.

The in-theater experience in this country is as good as dead. The Screening Room Proposition needs to happen now.

I wondered what happened to your review.

Three times? It's that boisterous? I hate the modern movie-going experience too -- cellphones and all -- but I can generally tune things out at some point. It's a scary movie with a clown -- people are going to be antsy, nervous and full of adrenaline.

How the hell do you deal with Star Wars fans in the theater? I find they over-laugh, over-cheer, and there's always "that guy" who has to point out everything to his friend.

Yikes, I'm sorry to hear that. One guy right in front of me whipped his phone out and started filming the movie and his "reactions" while scrolling through his social media - all with the brightness on his phone turned up. I left the theater and told a manager, who told him to stop using it. He stopped, but he would occasionally turn around and shoot me some death stares.

Felt good.

I've heard seeing horror movies early in the day is supposed to be less annoying, especially during weekends when people sleep in. Do you have any of those theaters that don't allow minors into certain areas near you? Those are supposed to be nice too.

My theater is always so damn quiet. Yea you have like people on there phones and giggling and occasional talking but usually it's so quiet and barely any reactions. I'm from Delaware tho so yea.

Ugh. Annoying. Go to the first showing on Tuesday morning. There will be nothing but seniors...and since this is a horror movie, probably no one :lol
