Nope. When I watch 90's version I see Tim Curry playin' jobless Krusty the Clown.
Skarsguard felt like the character and was actually creepy. He's Ledger's Joker of IT.

I like Tim Curry as the clown, but I don't get why so many people felt Skarsguard had some kind of monumental task to live up to or match Curry's Pennywise, as if Curry gave some kind of transcendent performance.

Like Ledger, you can see Skarsguard's youthfulness as an actor and performer, and his willingness to think outside the box and take "risks", from the drooling, to changing his voice and posture, and even the weird big lip smile that he learned from his brother.

Curry comes across as an older man who likes children, while Skar comes across as a monster who just looks like a clown....and likes to eat delicious children :lol
