Are his comments even available or do people simply repeat the media? Not trying to defeend anything but before I judge I usually try to know the facts.

I've only read the comments on some news site, but I'm assuming it's legit since he came out and apologized for those comments the same day.

Agree with your first 2 statements. As for the last two questions asked, I don't feel bad for him or agree with his comments.

I feel bad for hulk. I don't condone what he said it was hurtful and tasteless and under no circumstances is it ok to say that but he's clearly not a racist. His actions have shown otherwise through his whole career. private conversations should be just that and there is a double standard with that word being used in popular culture. It shouldn't be acceptable to use that word even if you are black. Hulk deserves to be reprehended for this and diserves scrutiny but being fired and erased from wwe is really ridiculous and excessive. He should issue a public apology and they should re-hire him as a show of good faith.

This is far from the worst thing he did. Those conversations about that poor kid that his craphead son turned into a vegetable with his wreck less behavior were far worse.

And seeing his pasty white ass on that sex tape was the most offensive thing he's put out there into the universe.

I'm still a hulkamaniac though.

To be honest, I don't even know how much of a double standard there is using that word anymore. It's obviously the context in which he used it. He did an interview a while back on some hip hop podcast and he was saying the N word repeatedly, and was talking about how he used it with big name hip hop artists and athletes and nobody had a problem with that. Most found it to be funny actually.

So you basically think celebrities don't deserve the same rights as everyone else? Wow.

Terrible misunderstanding of what I wrote and more likely a really huge assumption of what I think.

I didn't say it was right or that they don't deserve privacy or that they shouldn't have it. They should. But the reality is they don't. They are targets of the paparazzi, scammers and opportunist...it comes with fame, money & celebrity. No ones saying it's right but it is the way it is. I'm sure he wishes he never said that vile statement...more accurately he probably wishes she never recorded him. In a perfect world, she wouldn't have. But in a perfect world, he'd not hold such asinine opinions of us black folks.

As a fan of his, former now, it's really disheartening to have held the man in such high regard only to hear he would most likely look upon me like the scum of the earth. Many of you, obviously, would not understand that position given you are not the target of his...racist views.

To really determine is some is a racist, I'm more inclined to look at their actions and not what they say
Looks like hogan has friendships with black coworkers, visited black kids, etc
Who knows how much of that was just an image for work, but I always default to the old adage of "stick and stones......, but names will never hurt me"
Seems like modern America lets those names hurt them

What if he burned a cross?.......where is your personal line, its ok to like a racist but stop with the hyperbole of misdirection.

I don't care what famous individuals do on their time.

I met Hogan 2 years ago and this hasn't tarnished my like of him. Still a childhood hero of mine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions no matter how archaic they might be. Often topics concerning politics, religion, race etc are just blown wildly out of proportion.

I'll continue to have fond memories of Hulk Hogan.

Burning a cross = action
Why not judge someone on their actions and not their words?

Hulk Hogan is a fictional character that does not exist.
Don't worry that Terry Bollea said something racist, you're childhood is still intact and you can enjoy your doll.

This is why I only stick to collecting real people like Indiana Jones and Conan the Barbarian.

What if someone spoke ill of your child? Would you let that slide?

I'm not trying to be mean when I say this, but the only people coming off hurt are the Hulkamaniacs :lol everyone else is pretty much satisfied how the situation turned out.

"Its okay to like a racist." Mmmmm...... yeah. I don't consider Hogan a racist, considering 100% fact we all know someone who said those words, whether we know it or not, and if you say no your lying to yourself, I view that word more as a swear word anymore, if anything at all, as I said, it only means something if you let it. Some of you act like Hogan was the first to say this word and you never heard it before. I have heard white people be called it. Mexicans be called. Brazilians be called it. Im not sure why people real care about being called words..... So sensitive these days.

As for the burning cross..... Im not sure why you bring that in, pretty dumb to be honest, and attacking me with your post..... but yeah. If someone burned a cross. I would not care.... and Im christian. If they burned the bible, I really would not care, as I said, Im Christian. Now if they burned my Hot Toys..... then I would care. :lol

Uhhhh...why not both :huh. Thoughts, words, feelings...only a pretext to action.

NOT SAYING HE TOOK ANY ACTION!!!!
Have to make that clear...

Mmmmm.... no. "Im so mad I could punch/kill someone" Very common phrase.... but 99.9% of people dont punch/kill someone.

Again, it's the context in which he said those words.

You take out all the N" words from what he said, and his comments are still just as bad.

Wow... Good to see people like Rodman, Foreman and Virgil are standing up for him. But there is no reason to start defending almost glorrifying him as some people tend to do at the moment. Hogan may not be a racist, but he fked up big time and has to take over responsibility. His comments were offending, there is no discussion about this. His open apology shows that he is willing to face the consequences, which is a good thing, but in my eyes the apology can only be a start.

Words mean a ton because they often reveal the speaker's thoughts and attitudes.

To say he never acted on anything is a fair point but to me not a very strong one. Once you know someone's attitude on an issue do you think he or she just goes about life essentially ignoring their own feelings about a subject? One reason why thoughts and opinions matter is because people can act on them. Even on some type of unconsious bias.

A few pages back I listed a bunch of jobs where i said imagine if X said what hogan said. If an emergency room nurse or a judge got caught saying this stuff then said "oh, but i never act on my beliefs. I treat everyone equally." Would you really believe them?

And remember this was one guy at one moment who happened to get recorded saying what he said. I'm guessing this wasnt his first time speaking this way either.

First off as a mod, I'd like to commend the parties involved in this discussion from not going completely off the rails and engaging in a flame war. Lots of fodder for disagreement here, but it's nice when issues like this can actually be discussed.

In my opinion I do think it's very unfortunate and disappointing what was said and agree that if it was said once in private, it's likely not an isolated incident. But, at the same time it is very ****ed up that a person's privacy could be violated and things that occurred when they were seemingly "off camera" could be used against them. Had this been in the context of a personal appearance, taping of a show or an interview it would feel much more legitimate. Having said that, it's now out there and does have an impact on how people view him... is it fair, not really but it's done.

I guess it's akin to information gathered by a private investigator, it's not fair how they came about it. But if they have pictures of you cheating on your wife then you are ****ed, in more ways than one.
