Some similar move-sets but all different in stats and style of play.

That's the thing with SF. People see a lot of characters which use the same moves (fireball, srk, etc) and assume they are all the same just different character designs. In reality it couldnt be further from the truth since each one commands their own type of game plan to go into a fight to win.

Great point. People thing Ryu and Ken are near the same but there far from it Ryu is a zone player and while Ken is a push the offense player.

Great point. People thing Ryu and Ken are near the same but there far from it Ryu is a zone player and while Ken is a push the offense player.

Incorrect. Blanka has his electricity, an ability whose function is disimilar to the other characters you listed above with the exception of perhaps E Honda and his hand slap attack.

Bison has a flying head stomp ability (which can be linked to a second aerial punch), none of the above characters have that.

Balrog does not use ANY kicks, only punches. He is the only character in the game with that type of arsenal.

We have now moved into the uber geek territory, and I have no problem with that.

And yet the all share the back then forward motion for most of there special moves.

Even then those moves have different values and properties. Bison's Psycho Crusher (the charge back to forward attack) goes through opponets while Blanka, Honda, and Balrog's do not. Balrog has a choice between low, mid, and high charge attacks, which allow him to hit high or sweep low.
