yeah i did, a few times actually. but i went back and did it differently.

rounds 2
time 99

round 1 perfect x2
round 2 ultra
round 3 ultra x2
round 4 ultra x2
rest were normal wins

not sure if you need that many ultras but it ended up working for me in that order. so now i have all the characters unlocked now

this sucks...i wish there was a code to unlock akuma...he was the guy i killed with back when i played Xmen vs SF back in the day. i really want to play as gouken though.

I got Seth at last. I almost pulled out all my hair trying to beat seth on easiest with Dan and El Fuerte.

did you unlock akuma?? i know once you unlock akuma you have to beat it again with someone you've already beaten it with to get gouken to come out. and after that do it again to get seth unlocked. of course i still haven't beaten it with sakura so crap on me.

I defeated Gouken and I still didnt get him.

Is that normal? I think I may have lost a single round to Seth, but I did not continue, but I had 4 perfects and 4 ultras as well.

Seth is so frustrating.

Are you not allowed to lose any rounds or continue?

YAY!!!! i finally figured out a really easy way to beat this game (for unlocking characters) here's what i did:
Set the difficulty to Very Easy
Set the Rounds to 1
Set the timer to 30 seconds.
the object is not to win by KO, but to inflict more damage than the opponent before the timer runs out.
I just unlocked Dan and Fei Long in about 15 minutes total.

^^^yeah but Seth is still retarded hard so i suggest open up with your best combo that does the most damage then just jump around avoiding as much as possible. now of course you'll have to do the hard way to unlock Akuma and Gouken, but this takes the headache out of unlocking the other dudes.

Someone also told me to do what you had alread posted. However, they said to use Blanka and put his electric move on turbo. Then just cheese the hell out of the computer.

Just picked this game up last night for the 360 and I have to say.... This game is great, unfortunately I got my arse handed to me by random people on Arcade mode. But it's just the first day blues and a little practice and I will be ready to challenge you guys so beware!!!!

you have to of have beaten and unlocked akuma first to be able to unlock gouken. it may let you fight him but he wont unlock until after you get akuma and beat arcade with him atleast once.

I also like doing Akumas ultra, feels like im inputting a fatality from mortal kombat since it finishes off the opponent.

laugh all you want, but my DumbArse just realized that there is an "Easiest" difficulty besides just "Very Easy" well, at least i feel accomplished because i've been beating at the more difficult of the retard levels.

oh... to unlock Akuma you have to go undefeated right??? i know you have to get 2 perfects and finish with 2 ultra combos, but IGNs guide doesn't say anything about not continuing.

well it looks like Capcom have heard the countless theories on how to unlock Akuma and Gouken and someone finally decided to post all the requirements.

To unlock Akuma as a playable character:

You need to get at least one "perfect" win in a round, and more than one depending on how many rounds per match you are playing.


- 1 round match: 1 perfect round or more

- 3 round match: 2 perfect rounds or more

- 5 round match: 3 perfect rounds or more

- 7 round match: 4 perfect rounds or more


(including the last battle against Seth)


To unlock Gouken as a playable character:


1. Complete Arcade Mode playing as Akuma and watch (not necessary to watch everything) an ending.

2. Then, unlock Gouken as an opponent, and defeat him.

Necessary conditions to unlock Gouken as an opponent:

- Play with any characters with which you watched the ending once (so play using a character you have already beaten the game with)

- Do not continue at all.

- Do not lose at all. Not even one round (easier if you only play 1-round matches)

- Achieve certain number (or more) of "Perfect" rounds. The number of Perfect Win you need to achieve are:

If you play on

- 1 round match: 1 time or more

- 3 round match: 2 times or more

- 5 round match: 3 times or more

- 7 round match: 4 times or more


- Achieve certain number (or more) of Super Combo -OR- Ultra Combo Finishes. Super and Ultra finishes both count toward this number. The number of perfect win you need to achieve are:
