You see what I mean, though, yes? People's favorite statues are likely to be their favorite dinosaur and the individual choices there are thankfully quite variant; variant enough that we have a whole line of collectibles based on them. :D

I'm looking forward to it a great deal. Not expecting it to be preferential to either of the T.rex pieces for me, but possibly on par with Carno and Styrac. I hope the jaws are agape. The spinosaurids had such gnarly jaws, seeing them fully extended would be awesome. With some good color displays on crest and flanks, it has a lot of awesome potential.

Yes, I'm really waiting for an Allosaurus but I also like all dinosaurs .

I took the fellows comment to mean it beats any current Spino in the market, I assume that includes Foulkes, Salas, perhaps even toy companies like Safari.

Closed mouth therapods are rare, but we just had one with the Rex, so an open mouthed Spino would be preferable right now. It seems the only criteria for all the pieces so far is they show movement and motion...so the Spino shouldn't just be standing there....that's the only thing I can figure is guaranteed.

I wanna see some more herbivores. I've always thought they were cooler and more diverse than the carnivores. Carnivores more or less all look the same to me: Two legs, sharp teeth, short arms.

With the Deino the carnivore/herbiore ratio will be 4/3 ...not too bad. The Deino is a diff type of carnivore as well...not the basic therapod design. We also have the possibility of marine reptiles and pterosaurs to change up the predator design . :D

That said I wouldn't mind a really good hadrosaur myself..maybe Lambeosaurus ?

Yeah, I hope we see more of the well-defined patterns in the paintjob, just like the Carnotaurus had. All this spray-paint seems to make things look a bit dull.

Really ? I've had very little issue with the paint design so far..( just the Carno's head ) I suppose the Trike in the VS dio could have used something more...the Styrac has a really neat pattern of small spots that get thicker and more complicated as it goes higher on the back...the Rex's red head and stripe towards the tail..some patterns are visible in all of them I think...though the Carno does have the more bold patterns for now. That look should be back a bit in the Para with the Deino piece...it has some nice patterns judging by the pics.

A hadrosaur maquette is what i'm waiting for. Lambeosaurus would be great, and i'd really love to see a Corythosaurus.:monkey5

I like the Deinosuchus vs Parasaurolophus dio, but I just hate the Para had to be shown in such a manner. Hopefully we'll see this hadrosaur as a maquette later on.

It's a little funny..it's not much of a VS piece really...it it had been a smaller Deino that was getting stomped on while it grabbed at the Paras throat..that would have worked for me as well.

If a seperate Para was released it would look nice next to the Deino VS Para piece...maybe as a bit of a story. I like how the Rex maquette and the Rex VS Trike kind of go together.

A hadrosaur offers a lot of possibilites for color as well. ;)

Personally, I really hope this line puts out some dios based on Asian dinos and related creatures such as Velociraptor VS Protoceratops(quite a high possibility), Tarbosaurus VS Therizinosaurus, an Ornithopod dinosaur getting attacked by a small pack of maniraptoran theropods, Psittacosaurus VS Repenomamus(quite a large mammal at the time)...:D

As for the paint apps of the statues so far, they are so much better than most other 'mass' produced 'high quality' Dinosaur toys or collectibles imo. But the painting of the production pieces are not as vibrant and also lacks the precise details compared to the stock photos of the prototypes...(except for the dinosauria ornament)..

A Tarbosaurus VS Therzinosaurus would rock so hard.. :D The Tarbo could be staggering from a slash to the face..so cool.

Velociraptor with Proto...could be nice...and a larger piece showing each individual animal...I do have hopes of a pack of Raptors attacking a large hadrosaur or something still though...not sure how well it look though...maybe two Deinonychus running down a Struthiomimus would work better.

Overall I'm satisfied with the paint work so far..parts of wow me other bits I'm underwhelmed..but on average it's very good.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing that with the Spinosaurus. The body plan lends itself extremely well to flamboyant decorative coloration.

We have hardly any representations of Spinosaurus in collectible form with its maw fully agape, and in a high-end collectible with a bright or at least eye-catching color pattern, there's a lot of potential for an awesome piece.

Velociraptor VS Protoceratops in a large scale would be phenomenal, and it's certainly a piece which is sensible to postulate as coming soon.

Indeed. Ol' Spino is a walking canvas.

Personally, I'd love a maquette based on that last one. The fluidity of the pose would make for a stellar sight in three dimensions.

That sail should def have some nice color...even the head and neck could have quite a bit.

A wide open maw would work for me Scar..completely agreed. ;)

We should start finding out some new pieces starting tommorow right ?

Edit :

Dan I would love if that image of Marshall's was brought to life ! :D

That's the very image I've been toting on DTF as what I would love to have !

Of course everyone keeps " punching holes " in my fantasy saying those gaps and actual holes aren't possible in the sail. :-/ One guy even called it a hedge hog... talk about no imagination eh ?

I wish Marshall did prints..I would have that one for sure.. ;)

I have to wait another month for mine. (flex-pay)

EDIT: Sorry, this should have been a stand alone post.

Wow, those look really awesome together. Glad to see they have all finally found their way to you.

I really like the first 3...was never a fan of the last one.

Chris

Can't imagine why that would be. The original VS diorama is my personal favorite - the choice of dinosaurs, the accuracy of the dinosaurs, the pose, the detail, the backstory, and the interaction of the animals involved all coalesce for a magnificent piece. Though my #1 favorite spot is close between that and the T.rex maquette.

Can't argue with that, though I have to say that the one thing that puts me off the dioramas is just how bloodthirsty they are. Yes, I know that dinosaurs lived very hard and violent lives, but am I the only one who doesn't care to see them tearing each other to shreds, soaked in blood and in obvious distress? Of course that's how it went down, but to concentrate on that aspect seems gratuitously unpleasant to me. I wouldn't want to display these dios with small kids around that's for sure. Just my 2c. (The Maquettes, on the other hand, are fantastic.)
