Box office isn’t a good judge anyways. COVID + HBO Max + Declining Movie Culture.

Great movie - a solid 8/10. I was pleasantly surprised as I hated the first trailer and a lot of the jokes that I thought were lame in the trailer turned out to be funnier in the context of the movie.

Sunday morning session and only one other person in the cinema apart from my partner and I (she loved the movie).

Definitely better than Black Widow to me, and my second favourite DCEU movie after Man of Steel, and just pips Shazam.

Will likely buy a Bloodsport figure if they make him.

It was definitely more entertaining than those 2.

It wasn’t garbage just a forgettable black comedy is all.

You added the second sentence, but it is largely a kind of throwaway movie. A series of funny sketches that don't hold any deep significance.

Except for the King Shark/Ratcatcher 2 relationship (and Sebastian by association), and Weasel, of course. I can't forget him waking up at the end, and his funny run into the jungle. lol

Weasel was the character I was most interested in and he got neglected.

Which brings up the main problem in a movie where characters without weapons in an action movie require additional attention for them to become worthy of occupying valuable screen time.

WB is dumb lol
They are. Probably the dumbest studio that has hero characters ever. Atleast Sony markets and takes risk. WB is stupid. I could write a thesis on the stupid decision they made along with Dc comics. Lol detective comics comics

I laughed my ass off when he couldn’t swim

Things might change tho. The box office numbers are regressing. Pre Covid 19, movies were regularly passing a billion at the box office, but those days are long gone. Smaller box office = smaller films hopefully.
Because they keep releasing their movies on HBO Max/Disney+ and then complain that nobody is going to the cinema to watch their movies. Braindead executives.

We still judging how good a film is by its box office numbers? :lol

Box office only means something to the money men.

Plus as mentioned multiple times before - it's pre-pandemic and films are released on streaming platforms during the cinema release. You can download a film on torrent sites within hours of it's release.

I didn't take much notice of the trailers or anything before the release the of the film, so Weasel came as a complete surprise.

He was so pathetic and useless, afraid of everything, and with only the back story of him being a child killer giving him a more dangerous and darker side. Nobody even checked whether he could swim, which was a prime requirement for the mission. :lol

He was perfect fodder in keeping with the black comedy and cruel irony that pervades the film.

I likened TSS to Monty Python earlier because of it's absurd style of comedy. It has more in common with Naked Gun than the likes of Justice League. It takes the humour of the original Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984 to new extremes. It takes that humour, looks both ways, and just runs off with it like Weasel at the end!

Enjoyed it. Like Gunn and his Guardians style of super hero flick. Thankful for HBO max and getting to see this comfortably at home.

Enjoyed the entire opening sequence. Was fun guessing who/when was gonna die. Love that it leaned into the absurd and for the most part didn’t take itself too seriously.
I dig stuff like lore and coming up with head canon so stuff like the above mentioned weasels “he’s killed 23 kids” throwaway lines were a cool way to show these were psycho killers.

Was surprised at a couple deaths. Bummer on both. Loved the Predator rescue mission scene. Enjoyed all the characters. Robbie is always a babe, hot escape scene. Great costumes. Will probably watch it again before it goes off max.

Won't see proper box office numbers until Summer '22.

People still to be fully vaccinated and Winter just around the corner.

Probs won't see a billion dollar box office film for awhile.
True. Didn't touch BW opening number. Might never hear how TSS impacted HBO MAX.

BW had the luxury of being the first blockbuster to be released when cinemas reopened. Fans of Marvel/ BW and those happy to go to the cinema are probably the reason is did OK.
Or the obvious is that Marvel is way better. No one likes to acknowledge that Harley Quinn is a box office disaster.
