I was actually eyeing Numo's Tom Welling HS a while back - it had a good likeness. I requested to see pics of it attached to a 1/6 body and he readily sent a few. Unfortunately, it was oversized (based on the photos) so I had to pass. I then inquired whether he'd be willing to shrink it down a notch to which he was very receptive. However, he did not provide a time frame for it.

And yeah, Chris' work is top notch!

Yeah, I've seen the Welling sculpt as well. It wasn't bad, but there was something off about it...like the face looked too tight or something like that.

Anyway, I've got several links to Chris's works in the initial post if anyone needs them for reference.

Ok!

Here is the first set of Summer Glau photos sans hair.

I know it can be tough seeing the likeness without hair, especially in a flat gray color, so I put a quick Medusa wig of Super Sculpey "snakes" on her to help..... not sure if it helps or hurts!:lol

I've opted for the slightly open mouth. After watching several episodes of SCC and the movie Serenity, I realized just how common an expression this is for her.

I still need to lightly texture her skin with a very soft brush and form her teeth inside her slightly parted lips once the main bulk is hardened.

i like it so far. the eyes look really good. hard to tell without a hairsculpt and paint.

Yeah, that's the problem with young beautiful females faces. They tend to be very smooth with few "land marks" to help bring out the likeness in the flat gray color. Without makeup and hair it's very hard, especially for folks not used to looking at such things, to see the likeness.

I do see a few things I'll go back and refine....

Pretty close but slightly alter the shape of the eyes may looks even better.

Oh dear, seems closed mouth version:monkey2

Anything specific you can point out?

For those of you who haven't been involved in one of my commissions, I invite critique and discussion so as to make a better sculpt. It's always nice to have many sets of eyes to help out!

I cant tell you till its done.... I think its the eyes though. Mabye make them a tad smaller....im not sure. I'd rather wait till either the sculpt is done, or its painted.

Yeah, I think most of it is the eyes. There are other subtle touches like the jaw line, perhaps the cheek hollow. One thing not on the composite is that I need to lower the position of her ears. I made them a little high.

I hope to have version 2 maybe tomorrow night.

When I nail down the look I'll make the mold for the bald version, then start on the remaining variations. Those should go pretty fast. I hope to have all versions done in the next 1 to 2 weeks.

Wow Chris, outstanding work so far. Really looking forward to the BD version of Cameron... think she'll make a fun addition to the collection :rock

Looks absolutely outstanding Chris! Off to a great start on this one! :rock

I've asked the other boards for feedback as well and will crosspost it here. i think the suggested changes you had will work out very well. IMHO, the upper eyelid looks a hair too raised, perhaps giving a more wide-eyed expression than intended.

Here's some add'l feedback from Rogerbee on MWD:

Looks pretty good,

The head shape on the bald one looks a bit off to me, a little chimp-like. The face is very good though as shown by the above photo. If you look where the bottoms of the ears are in that pic, I think you can see what I mean about the bald sculpt. I agree about the cheeks, they should be a little more hollow than they appear in the pic. Pehaps she is a little wide eyed too. All in all though, this is looking rather promising.
