Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Good to see lots of in-hand pics of this figure.
IMHO the head sculpt is not bad at all and might shine with a repaint. The rest is pretty meh. The body I find particularly bad, the suit might look better on a different body.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

The bad thing about this figure is timing. If HT wasn't releasing a Reeves Superman I would have bought this. I bought Zod when he was first released, but I won't be spending anymore money on Mattel's line.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Nice in hand shots. The legs and the bicep/tricep area look skinny, but not bad.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Really not bad at all for the price... if HT wasn't making one this would at least be worth it for the outfit and accessories to make a custom.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

The more inhand shot I see the more I'm liking this!

keep the pics coming you guys!

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

Mine should be here Thursday. Looks like a nice figure. The only complaint i have are the boots. They should have been made out of plastic.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

did everyone get it from matty? Still waiting my Delivery confirmation...

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

I still think the body has to be replaced, but the head sculpt really looks like it would shine with a repaint.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

I received mine today. I'm going to try it on a TT body and post pics soon.
Winghead - Have you been able to remove the boots? It seems like they glued those rubber soles directly to the feet.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

An important note of caution when removing the clothing. Do Not let the velcro touch the fabric. It will mess it up.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

So when removing I suggest remove the underpants first. That way you avoid its velcro touching the fabric. Then remove the suit. The boots are glued on the feet. It is removable just be careful. I carefully peeled the boot slowly around the boot, like opening a 5 gallon bucket of paint.
I used it on two types of TT bodies.
The first is a Enzo Assassins creed body. i replaced his arms with the TT advanced version. This version has a more defined tricep area than the original body. I also used the thigh plate to bulk up the thigh. The only drawback for this figure is the torso, I would like it to be slightly bulkier and without that rib cut.
Also, the damage the velcro can do to the fabric can bee seen on the right corner of the shield.

This one is using the Comedian body. I like the body and more defined neck muscles but the articulation on the arms are too limited.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

wow that suit looks great ,im just not too sure about the boots ,as for the body cuts and joints you could try this is a hot toys true type ,with a twist ,ok not a twist a bit of tape and some extra clothes ,first i wrapted tape around the arms not much but enough to give a little more bulk ,then i added a thin spandex body suit and padded the hollow areas with cotton not much but enough to smooth it all out in places like the shoulders and elbows, then a nother body suit a repo captain action with the neckand sleeves cut out ,this seems to give a smooth sorta bulky body that to me anyway looks like chris reeves superman , the neck and shoulder came from some roto cast figure i had lying around ,cut out and fitted ond the figures shoulders then the costume over the top ,the neck looks prety bad but its the best i could do with what i had to work with :)but on your bodies with the sculpted neck ,it should look great

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

amusedjester, :goodpost: I like the first body, looks macho and better proportion than the other.

To me, the thigh looks slightly bulky, it be nice if you can reduce its size.
:hi5: Oh, I like you head sculpt. You repaint it? Or where you get it from? Thank you for posting. :clap

Maybe you should contact them directly. My shipping notice came on the day following the order, but from what I've read, one of us received his Superman yesterday and never got a notice in the first place, so nothing alarming there. :D

I'd probably go with the regular Ezio body. Reeve wasn't that bulky, dude just had a very fit physique.

Re: 1/6 Superman line from Mattel?

I agree. i am leaning towards the Enzio body.
Libby - your idea of putting on an initial body suit is a great idea and when winghead showed his costume over the HT Returns I tried to copy it but my undersuit was too thick. I will try it again with a different suit. I REALLY like the proportions on your Superman.
Iceberg - Luckily, I used a thigh covering on this and can be easily removed to thin the thigh down. Will try later tonight.

Decided to buy a second Superman Mattel, so I can get a clean suit. Remember about that Velcro. Can't warn you guys enough on that. If anybody has any good advice on fixing this kind of damage I am all ears.

Mattel still has a toy mindset when it comes to this line. Their packaging, although cool, can't be opened without damaging it.

You mighy try a safty razor and carefully shave the fabric. I know it works with 'pills' on wool items.
