Well, it's precisely because of the promise of such pieces that I'm itching to preorder this thing right now.

Sideshow pointedly said in yesterday's Q&A that the future of the line lies in the consumer interest, and the "it's too expensive!" gut reaction from many people was a bit worrying in that regard.

For what it is, light-up or not, $280 is a pretty reasonable price. Certainly as reasonable as with any comparable piece in the Marvel line.

I have a feeling that the price concerns may not squash the line but rather alter the direction it takes to perhaps delve into more affordable routes.

Or it will just appeal primarily to statue collectors, who have had to wait a long, long time for Sideshow to produce a polystone line in their SW licence.

I'm one, of course, and I waited patiently for three years as 12" action figures, PFs and 1:1 busts rolled out, HOPING this sort of products would come along.

I have more than my fair share of 12" SS SW figures but I love polystone the most, so I am so looking forward to this SW product line.

I also prefer polystone statues to 12" figures, so even if I don't get this particular piece, I will be watching this line with great interest.

That sounds like what Palpatine said to Anakin at the end of Phantom Menace. :emperor

I'm watching this line with great interest because I love seeing certain scenes captured for all time. This is one of them for sure. The moment when friends/brothers are forced to fight each other because of their beliefs.

I watched TPM last night on HBO. I realized how much I really do like TPM too.

I watched it again recently after recording it on HBO HD and I'm starting to gain more appreciation for it. I still can't stand any scene with Jar Jar and some of the scenes with Anakin are still grating to watch, but the overall movie is getting better with each viewing.

Yeah, Jar Jar still a tad annoying but hes not as bad as he once was. lol Anakin doesn't bother me because it shows his youthful spirit and the sadness of where he will go. Overall, though I'm just enjoying them more and more each time like you said.

Yeah after watching them for the millionth time you become numb to the faults. :lol

I have nearly wore out my SW DVDs

I agree! but Jar jar is not so unbearable IMO...

If Lucas excised about three or four of his most annoying antics (and that Eopie fart!) from the upcoming boxset DVD edition, Jar Jar would cease to be a problem. He talks funny, but I can live with that...

Back to our scheduled wait. What I'm REALLY afraid of is an exclusive Diorama with the ES of something ridiculously low, like 50 pieces, and the regular of the announced 2000 ES. Not gonna happen, hopefully, but the lack of certainty is doing strange things to my bowels.
