If any, all those side by side comparison shots did for me was show just how much better the SE versions are.

Give me Lapti Nek and YUB YUB and I am one happy little jawa. :D

Being a fan since 1977, overall I like the SEs. There are a few things I don't like, and there are a lot of things I do like. As much as I want to finally see the original versions on DVD, I'm not sure about buying the new sets. Especially with the big box set coming out next year.

Yeah, there were a few things I never realized before... like the detention center corridor. I guess unless you're anal retentive, like Lucas, I never would have noticed it. :lol

Ditto Batty. But come one. Its worth at least buying ROTJ for LAPTIK NEK AND YUB YUB!!

Lapti Nek - definitely. Shaw - Ghost...hmm. But original Boba Fett voice - ESSENTIAL!

:D

Originals all the way. I hate the SEs with a passion.

As you all know. ;)

"Case by case basis" all the way. :) In all I'd say the pros vs. cons of the SE's rank them slightly higher than a wash so I'm fine with them (now that Luke's ridiculous scream in the 1997 ESB SE has been removed.)

Love that ANH SE Death Star attack and Hayden ghost.

I would always like to have access to the originals however.

I prefer the visuals at the end of ROTJ (ie the republic celebrating and Hayden) but I just like the music and it makes my kids laugh to see old anakin ghost at the end. Don't know why, it just cracks them up. :lol

I'm waiting for a Clone Wars Animated Version rendition of the Original Trilogy. With full on jedi-superpowers running around. Even the New Trilogy the same way I would buy. Now THAT would be an awesome obi-wan/anakin fight and obi-wan/vader fight i would enjoy.

Yup, I like most of the changes like Anakin(Hayden), ROTJ ending as a whole actually, plus a few others.

Interesting to see the changes in the comparison shots. Many are subtle, but add realism, contrast and depth, which help with immersion in the film IMO.

Personally, I enjoy the updates, and definitely the compositing cleanups, and improved effects integration. Nice to have a public "historical" record of the '77 original work on DVD, but I would much rather watch the new version.

So, I plan to pass, expecting to go shopping for SW again only once a HD box emerges in the future. ;)

That scream annoyed the heel out of me!! It's The Emperor's scream minus the explosion sound at the end. So stupid. I was glad it was excised from the dvds.

I don't remember this being in the 1977 release:

Could it be from the 1997 SE?
I have the 1995 digitally remastered Gold Collection Box set and the 1997 SE edition box set. And of course the 2004 DVD version. I guess every version has it's charms. I probably end up buying the upcoming set as well.
Before the OT was available on DVD, I tend to reach out for the SE every time I watched the films. So, I haven't seen the true originals in quite a while. Can't wait to have them on DVD!

I don't think anyone has a problem with cleaning up or even changing skylines a problem. It adds more realism and is GREAT. But what I don't like are major changes that didn't need changing like Boba Fett's original voice, and the addition of the Jedi Rocks song.

Ive never understood why you cant see Yavin in the background during all that dog fighting over the Death star. I think it wouldve added scale.
Where are all the rebel aliens during the medal ceremony?
Chewies the only one present, bunch of xenophobes.

Well one reason would be that if Yavin was in plain sight during the DS battle it would beg the question as to why the DS is waiting to fire at it.

I always thought an interesting change would have been to have had the green beams of the DS gun ignite and start to come together right as the whole thing exploded.

That's a great idea!
