SW VS. LOTR #11: Lando VS. Boromir

Well, Vader had to go against somebody, and the poor Witch King was crushed in last week's poll, returning things to a tie in our fifteen part poll marathon. With only a few left to go, this week will break another tie and put one side back on top. So pick your favorite character and tell us why:

At first glance he seems to be a trusted ally, but temptation and pressure force his hands--and his temporary weakness sets back the progress of the hero’s quest, all in the name of protecting the people in the city under his care. The damage done by his betrayal splits the group of allies in a way that is not immediately resolved, as the film ends with a hero in the hands of the enemy and on their way to the arch-villain. Thankfully, this conflicted character quickly sees the error of his ways and takes a stand alongside the heroes in the face of an enemy ambush.

No contest in my mind. Boromir kicks Lando's butt in every way (though I will buy a Lando 1:6 before I buy a Boromir).

You guys are crazy !!! Lando was cool as hell, not only was he a suave ladies man... but he destroyed the f'n Death Star! Boromir is a great character but when it comes to Icons, Lando wins for me hands down.

Boromir's a more interesting character, you can see the ring eating away at him the FOTR. But he really doesn't do much besides give into his temptation. He's got some cool fight scenes and he does redeem himself but Lando blew up the friggen Death Star (well second one anyway).

I like the fact that Lando gave some ethnic diversity to the cast of Star Wars--something that LOTR is admittedly lacking.

Boromir for me.

I'm a Lando fan, but Boromir evoked more emotion for me.

(Although, Lando's little hand clapping dance at the end of ROTJ was pretty special. )

Without him, Han would still be a frozen wall decoration, Leia and Chewie would've been guests of the Emeperor and Luke would still be hanging off of that antenna waiting to be captured by Vader. Lando's the real hero of the rebellion when you think about it.

I voted Boromir. He died to save others, Lando didn't. Never much of a Lando fan for some reason. Plus Sean Bean is awesome!
