What is Star Wars on trial?

It's a book edited and officiated by several noted Sci-Fi authors in the style of a courtroom drama. Cases are made for and against Star Wars on several charges. Such as "Star Wars is Fantasy ,not REAL Science Fiction" and "Star Wars tie-in novels are pushing REAL Sci-Fi off of the shelves." That kind of thing. Enlightening at times, ridiculous whimsical, and overall an intruiging read. But I'm afraid I couldn't ignore certain points made about the prosecution, particularly about Yoda.

Thanks. I may have to check that out. It sounds interesting.

I had to go with Yoda. As much as I like the tragic character of Smeagol/Gollum and the way he was envisioned by Tolkien and visualized by Jackson, Yoda has a special place in my heart. He is one of the few characters that Lucas didn't #$##up in the PT...IMO. Also, when I watched him for the first time in the OT, this adorable little green creature became one of my many obsessions. And who could forget the "swartz?":rotfl

I too had to go with my little green friend. ESB just holds so many great memories for me as a kid and it's largely due to Yoda. I love Gollum, but Yoda will always have a special place in my heart.

Mine too, but I actually was rooting against him in ROTS ... all that mumbo-jumbo to Anakin in their "Yoda, I have a friend who ..." discussion. :sick

I voted strictly on the OT, Yoda won in that battle.

No disrespect to PJ or Andy Serkis who did more than an incredible job with Gollum, but I've always liked the wisdom and reserved power of Yoda. Kind of like Gandalf, he was a comforting but strong character.

I vote Yoda.

This was fun! I would have liked to see Qui-Gon in one of the threads. But a great job was done by you tomandshell!!!

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, good job Tom. If only the last poll would've SW vs. LOTR..... :monkey5

Well, I kind of imagined the whole thing as one big Star Wars vs. LOTR poll. And it seems that we have a winner--I don't see Gollum beating Yoda no matter how long we wait.
