Legolas was also a lil b@tch in Troy...

Yeah but the coolness of PotC trumps the craptacularness of Troy. :monkey5

Also, at least Legolas never kissed one of his siblings. :monkey4

Hmmm, it is really hard to compare their roles beyond the beauty counter analogy.

Legolas never did miss with his arrows, that is saying something. Leia had some good one-liners, while Legolas' dialogue could hardly be considered among the best in the films. I guess I care more for the depth of character than bringing down a Mumak.

Take this Loki ...

I am going with Leia

This is the first matchup I have not liked at all. I went with Legolas because to me he was just plain cool! I love Leia, but had to go with the elf here.

Had to go with Legolas...his action sequences were creative and memorable...beyond using a blaster, I remember Leia best for "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope."

Well as odd as this one is, it's not a very hard choice... At least not for me.

Leia may be a very tough woman and strong of character/will but physicaly... It really doesn't take much to get her down. In Ep IV she gets stunned and captured by basic Stormtroopers pretty easily. In Ep V she was powerless to save Han. In Ep VI she gets wounded again on Endor's moon, she gets captured trying to rescue Han... She did kill Jabba I'll give her that, but the big slug was so fat at that point that he could hardly move and no one saw what was happening...

Legolas on the other hand... I don't remember him falling to the enemy once? Physicaly he is much more swift, agile and resistant than Leia. He fought countless Orcs and things, he fought that Cave Troll (did he not deliver the final blow?), and he took down one of those huge elephant things & company by himself!

I'm a huge Leia fan but this definitely goes to Legolas.

P.S.

One should note that I am NOT taking into consideration the EU and SW books that take place after Ep. VI (never read any...). In those books, I am told that Leia has now become a powerfull Jedi like Luke... That would definitely change things! However, all "I" am considering is Ep. IV - VI Vs. LOTR Trilogy and in those movies, Legolas would wipe the floor with her!

:emperor :maul

After thinking about this long and hard, I had to go with Legolas. Leia is a great character and very important in the SW universe, but she only seemed to have one sceen a movie where she did anything and she was ALWAYS getting captured. Do you realize she got captured in every movie? She was a damsel in distress, albiet a strong damsel.

I had never read the LOTR when I watched Fellowship so I know nothing going in. The one thing that stuck with me during and after my first viewing was how much I loved the elves and Legolas especially. He always has at least one holy crap moment in every movie. Not to mention he risked his immortality to help Middle Earth when most of the other elves were leaving it.

Since the poll has nothing to do with my childhood crush on Carrie Fisher, I'd have to side with Leggy. I never liked how Princess Leia lost her stuffy, sorta British inflection as the movies progressed. Leia was always the damsel in distress for me, so maybe that is why I don't find her as interesting.

I also had to go with Legolas. Bloom made the character come to life. His supernatural abilities, fighting style, interaction with Gimli, and loyalty made for a great character.

Not to say that Leia didn't have great character.... I just think Legolas had more substance.
