can the guys who have this take pics of the arm sockets in the body. I'm curious if we could put the version 1 arms on this guy and vice versa.

thanks.

The chrome does not seem to shine. Wonder if the finish is the same as the previous lifesize.

Bottom line: This is the second best purchase I've made in the last two years, with the first being a Fortress Seating Bijou 3-seater with integrated D-Box motion actuators. Life is good.

Btw, this version is a "dirty" model.

looks like the new T800 is a clean version. whoo hoo! congrats to those who landed one :)

This is not a clean version, it has the "dirty" over-spray. But it is definitely "clean-able", I tested it.

I am very impressed with the construction of this item. However, the extra pieces that attach to the light bar to give the light bar a fuller appearance around the base are kind of superfluous to me. As a result, and as you can see in the picture, I opted just to use the light bar as is, without the extra pieces.

Speaking of the light bar, the strobe mode is amazing.

I own the first version, clean, this doesn't have the same shiney chrome look at all.

I actually prefer the 2.0 version the way that it is, as it makes sense for the T-800 to be dirty looking on the battlefield. If it was clean, the design of the accompanying base would be absurd.

I agree, but I think that SS (or the factory painters in china, for that matter) may have gone a bit overboard with the "weathering". They've dulled down the chrome so much that it looks like simply a coat of silver paint. IMHO, screen-used endos always "shine" like real metal, even if they've been dirtied up for the battlefield.

I suppose it could just be the photos making the V2 look so dull.

That being said, it's encouraging that, according to llarch above, it can be cleaned (I assume in the same way people have been converting SS endobusts from veteran combat to chrome)

Up close and in person, it should be clear to any of my guests that it is real metal and not paint. Seriuosly, to me it doesn't look like paint at all.

Here are some observations;

Build quality is great, detail is great, even up close it holds up. I think the teeth look better on the 2.0 compared to earlier versions, just seems more human-like. I also like the new base (aside from the up-lighting change which I'll write about later), it is more subtle, doesn’t try and complete with the statue.

It does have some articulation in both arms and head; each arm can be adjusted to 3 positions; 45 up, horizontal, and 45 down and the head can rotate right/left, guessing about 30 degrees.

It arrived with nothing broken or missing and it went together easy with one exception; the left arm did not fit in the shoulder socket. This fit issue would have been a major problem for most as it was impossible to make it fit, but luckily I had a dremel tool, so I dremeled the hell out of the receiving socket until the arm fit properly.

The other thing that was unexpected was the up-lighting for the base, it is not like it is shown on the SS website. Instead of the up-lighting being in the actual base, they shipped it in a separate black horseshoe shaped bar that is supposed to just sit around the front of the base. This add-on lighting is sufficiently lame, I just left it off entirely, so unfortunately no up-lighting for me.

Overall I'm really happy with it, the kids are in awe.

I've gotten so many questions about the finish (which again, is great), when I get back from vacation I'll take a picture of the clean shiny chrome spot on the back so it is more obvious what's under the battle weathered finish.

The first version CLEAN is in actuality not all just shiney chrome, it has battle damage to the chest plate and black/burnt accents throughout in the creases and joints, but the shine comes through which gives it a real pop to the eye. I am glad they did not duplicate the finish on V 2.0, as they all are unique. From what I know, you will not see the shiney chrome anymore due to the fact that production of that type finish is too difficult and that is why it has only been done once.

My T-800's right arm did not seem to lock in place with the locking pin at first, but after a couple of insertions/re-insertions, the pin started catching the arm just fine. My only minor quibble with mine is that his right side torso piston (or I guess one of the pistons, as they seem to fit either side) fits really tight, and I had to twist it back and forth to get it down to almost the same level as the left side piston. However, this is something that no one will ever notice or even have to deal with.

Again, this is a great piece. I'm amazed that I actually own a life-size figure from a movie that I saw nine times in the theater back when I was just a budding middle schooler.

That's funny, my right side torso piston was also a tight fit, but I didn't mention it because it was nothing compared to the issue with the left arm shoulder socket.

Is your power switch for the eyes a little sticky?

No, not really, but it freaked me out at first that when you disengage the button it takes a few seconds before the eyes go dark. It's a cool effect now that I realize what they are imitating (i.e. - the eyes slowly going dark like a dying terminator), but at first I thought it meant the button wasn't working right. LOL! :lol
