the takara boots are the most movie accurate of the 3 versions...

search this thread for my comparison made...

I looked and must have missed it.
Can you direct me to it?

I'd like to see it.
Thanks.

Sorry if I posted info already discussed.

I finally got mine today.............HOLY SMOKES! This figure is everything I imagined it would be, simply amazing! Takara knocked this one out of the park, I know its a re-release but man there is nothing that compares to this piece.

Congrats on receiving it! Mine should be here soon, I just checked the tracking number and it's on Canadian soil so I am guessing probably tommorow.

Dammit! Thanks to you lot I've ordered a Tak Bat... and I swore I would never pay this much for a figure! Just looks too good to pass up. My lady also urged me to get it, despite the price. She loves the Batman character (movies only, doesnt read the comics but i give her all the background info) and she is a bit batty herself.

He should be here in the UK sometime next week when I will hopefully post some pics.

My post count is now at 69! Hur hur hur

the reviewer complaind about the boots being un-accurate, but he was wrong, as I proved somewhere in this thread :)

and there is a search button for this thread, try 'boot'

Sorry, I couldn't find your boot related posts anywhere on this thread, so I can't read what you wrote about the boot accuracy.
And again, I'm sorry if this has already been discussed, but since I just got the figure, I'm gonna just jump into this.

These are some pretty good pictures of the actual boots :

I think that Takara has the details correct, they just over emphasized the flap that goes over the top of the foot. It doesn't look as pronounced, to me, as it's depicted in the Takara sculpt.
I think from the pix I've seen, that the HotToys boot sculpt is better aesthetically.

Don't get me wrong, I really love the Takara figure. I think it's amazing.

In fact, looking at that photo of Bale in the costume (in the link above) illustrates some areas of the costume design that I originally didn't like and find that the Takara version improves upon.

For example, in the real costume, the drastic color difference between the gauntlets and gloves and the cape and the mask (all as a result of the different materials used) bothered me when I saw the movie.
I felt like it made the costume look "disjointed" in a way that I didn't like.
Especially in contrast to, say, the '89 Keaton costume (still my favorite Bat costume so far).

I think the Tak figure looks better than the real thing in this regard. The hands, gauntlets, head, cape and the body are all a more uniform shade of black, with just enough difference in the materials to make the areas of the costume stand out impressively.

Also, I know it's not really movie accurate, but I liked how the HotToys figure had the chest Bat symbol painted w/a slightly glossier finish. That helped set it apart from the rest of the costume.
The symbol tends to "get lost" on the costumes where it all has a uniform finish.

Ultimately, I don't see why the look of the boot is so critical, right or wrong for the film, the Takara boot is right for articulation and poseability. I like accurracy in products but when it's close enough and the departure from the source favors the product, I'm all for it. I'd rather a slightly off boot and a figure capable of amazing poses than the right boot and a statuesque figure.

I dont own this figure yet... but when I hear of inaccuracies and other complaints/observations it doesnt matter... when I have my figures displayed on my shelf they look fan-++++ing-tastic and I dont notice the imperfections at all. My friends who arent into collectibles but are fans of the movies are usually greatly impressed.

lol I do not know wich kind of takara batman figure you have, but on the takara figure the gaunlets are glossy and much more shiny than the rest of the figure...just like in the movie :)

and the batman begins character costume was more a start, it was a collection of different elements...
not like in the '89 suite where the batsuit was already finished, that explaines why it looks all like one piece.

about the boots, you just confirm once again that the takara boots are the most movieaccurate of the 3 figures :) (just like most of the other elements on the takara figure)

Received my Tak Bats yesterday. Spent all last night putting him in various poses and couldnt stop looking at him whenever I entered the room. The suit is less restrictive than I was thinking too. All in all, one of the best 1/6 scale purchases I've ever made and well worth every penny. Will try to get some shots posted later.

Takara Batman Begins Collector's Tips

Hi All, new guy here.

I have the original issue of the Takara Batman, it's been on display for over a year now on my shelf. I've learned a few things about this figure, hopefully this will help out newer owners for this awesome figure:

1) Don't leave your accessories in the figures hands for more than a week. The gold paint on the batarangs and grapnel gun will rub off onto the figure's gloves over time. The gold paint is beautiful, but very soft; this in addition to the pressure of the stiff fingers on the hands will make the gold paint stick to the gloves.

2) The rubber suit does not extend too far past the forearms of the figure. If the suit pops out under the gauntlets when you flex the elbows, be very careful inserting it back in place. The suit is very tacky, and will stick to the interior of the gauntlets, causing the suit to bunch up around the elbows.
The best thing to do is to straighten the elbow first, then gently squeeze the gauntlet into a circular cross-section (by itself, it's somewhat oval in shape) and gently reinserting it over the suit and forearm.

3) Resist the urge to spray Armor-All or other plastic preservatives onto the suit. Armor-All has been shown to actually degrade plastics and vinyl over time....trust me, real car guys do not use this product.

4) I've read that the suit is made of Kraton rubber. If this is true, than the suit should last a very long time. It's definately not cheap PVC, as there is no outgassing like Mcfarlane (in)action figures.

5) The suit is a dust magnet, as you've probably seen. Blowing compressed air doesn't really work, nor does brushing it....I've had bristles actually stick on the suit! What I do is take low tack painter's tape (3M Blue) or adhesive poster putty (Fun/Blue-Tak) to remove dust after a play session.

Hope this helps,

BOBBY

Thanks for your very informative input, Bobby.

I'm glad I held off from using Armor-All on Batman, I didn't hear of anyone else having success with it.

I also have the original release, and for almost a year now. I just removed his batarang from his hands, thank you for that heads up Bobby. Thankfully, the gold paint hasn't rubbed off on the gloves yet.

oh yeah, welcome to the boards man!

Thanks. I usually use 3M tape to take dust off when applying a LCD screen protector too. The tip will come in handy when I get this figure.
