If I could bring this in for $350 or so I'd be tempted... heck, I put that much (with custom sculpted and painted heads and hat) into the '89 Nicholson Joker.

It's going to largely hinge on the likeness, though.

How much you bet we see these parted out like crazy?

Well, i think it will be a soft likeness and not an overly detailed sculpt... Look at the Takara Batman Begins Bruce Wayne head. It's a soft likeness to Christian Bale and a little too boyish. All their sculpts, the ones that I've seen, have failed to bring any true realism to the subject at hand. I think everyone should not expect a figure on par with their Batman Figure, or one they well become as expensive. That was a fantastic Batman figure & looked great because it was Batman from the movie (mind you not 100% accurate) and the suit was done really well and better than the Hot Toys & Medicom versions at the time.

Takara are a great toy maker, but this figure will look more like the Medicom version. A bit cartoonish. I do think the outfit & accessories will be something to look at. Because they don't specialise in real looking figures. But they do make cool looking figures.

You're probably right, but there's a little part of me that thinks this has got to be something special.
I was blown away my the Kerberos, Panzer Cop (https://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_042307b.htm ) they did, but he's over a year old now and in that time Takara haven't brought out any new male figures apart from re-issues and re-hashes. I'm hoping all there efforts have gone into this and they might raise the bar again and create a new 'type' of figure.
At the end of the day Hot Toys have been leading the 1/6 market for the last couple of years, so unless Takara bring out something that blows them out of the water, which will be a hard act, the $400 price tag will take a lot of swallowing.

I pre-ordered this at BBTS as soon as they put it up, just in case. I can always cancel. But now it looks like I won't want to. :p

i love the takara batman begins version - the masked HS looked the best of all 3 versions. the suit wasn't as accurate as the hot toys version but overall it looked nice. i'm with wookster, i hope this is something special. maybe part of the $400 has gone into new sculpting and painting procedures.

Preording items you haven't seen pics of... oi!

I guess you gotta love that zero cancellation fee.

Well that's just it. There's nothing to lose by pre-ordering at BBTS at this point due to the lack of cancellation fee and extreme ease of updating orders on their site.

Also, I'd much rather have an order secured which I can always cancel than wait and find myself scrambling to get one in case it sells out.

Not to mention, BBTS jacks prices up, I lucked out getting Tak Batman through them round 2 as soon as they had him, he's gone up like $20 over the last couple months.

I agree, and that's why BBTS has had 10,000 of my hard earned money in past purchases, but guys it's 400+ for a 12" figure! :google

Let me guess.. you said once a upon a time when you were collecting 10-15 dollar figures like me, that 50 dollars was outlandish for a figure. This was pre-2000. Then 2000 came along, and you started into the 50 dollar neighbourhood, and said, I would never spend 100... then shortly after you were with Medicom figures... and then progressed to 200 with Hot Toys and Medicom, then 300 to Enterbay, and now 400+!!! :google

When is enough, enough? :p

The kids get fed first. No worries. I take care of my responsibilities (mortage, bills, child support, car, groceries, etc), save a little, and then the rest is play money to do what I wish... including splurging on an occasional $400 toy. :D
