If it arrives damaged it becomes a shipping insurance claim. ;) You know that if the next one has quality control issues they're going to ask you to destroy it instead of sending it back...

R2 is up for order in JAN. if i heard correct. (and i'd expect him to be at least 50$ less, but i also think he will be more intricate with a different lighting set up changing colors and more compartments who knows)

So long as they replace the defective item, I'll be happy to oblige - it'd save me a trip to the FedEx depot :)

Just paid for one of these figures... buyer's remorse big time. I hope it's worth FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS. The most expensive piece I have in my collection is the code 3 slave 1. This will be number two.

How on earth do you decide to lay down 4 bills on a figure you don't think you'll love? When I opened mine I was only disappointed it wasn't perfect and having to go through an exchange process. The last thing I thought about was what I'd paid for it. If you like the character and are impressed by all the pics of it, I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with your purchase.

I think I will love it, no doubt. However, 4 bills is still A LOT of money for a figure. When I saw the photos I knew I had to have it. I just can't get over how much it was. I'm sure you are right that once I have it in hand, it won't seem like a big deal.

Why did you pay 400$? It's only 340 shipped at amazon. (lol... only) I told myself if i could get it for under 350$ shipped i would and so i did.

Enjoy!

I paid about $350 AUD - shipped for mine. :)

I'd be annoyed at $400 too. :lol

I've always said I paid the premium to go with Sideshow in case I needed to take them up on their return policy. Now I feel like I made a good decision, what with all the scratches and what not it came with. I saw the extra coin as an insurance policy. Had the same figure come from amiami I would've been SOL for an exchange and stuck with a figure that'd punch me in the guts every time I looked at it. I'm sure I could've got it for less from other stores and been just as well looked after on the CS side, but SSC was a known entity for me and I'm risk averse at this price point.

got mine, and loved it.. that was last month.. but there were some issues.. some bad black scratch type marks.. a sharp flaw that poked my finger until i bled.. and some blemishes that were noticeable from even far away, so i decided to return. sideshow was great, return process was very fast, to me at least.

got the replacement a few weeks ago. while it had less cosmetic issues, it had a very bad blemish on one of the thighs, and in front no less, so very noticeable, and the only other issue i think was on the torso. Where the cod meets the part right under the wires there was a HUGE glob of glue coming out onto the metal and just shines a different brightness when light hits it (which is always, with that finish!) and so it is just pushed apart from the other cod part, and it is very messy to look at.

So I contacted customer service, and michael has been very helpful.. but the returns department still hasn't gotten back to me, and we are going on the second week now. So yeah.. fun wait.

I know they want to send out the whole replacement, but I even pointed out, with a figure this expensive, and with so many issues that could pop up, why not just replace certain parts? My first figure, I had 5 parts that had issues. This one, it's only 2, but one of those is the torso, a very big part. Sadly, neither of the two new damaged ones is one of the original damaged areas. So if I combined the two I got, I'd have a perfect figure. Go "figure".. right? So sad..

Lovely figure, but yeah, there is the potential for issues.

At the least, when I returned the first figure, they could have done a thorough inspection of the replacement. Is that asking too much? I mean.. they had clearly opened it, because it had no outer plastic. So that just makes me think they sent me someone elses returned figure if they didn't inspect it. I mean, the new one I got has flaws so visible that I noticed them both within 2 seconds of opening the figure. ugh....

Peace of mind is always worth it's weight in gold - sure. :wink1:

I didn't pull the trigger with HLJ till I'd read ALL their sire info first. Their CS is great, so I went ahead. :)

We definitely dodged a bullet with Popculture though, still on PO - & $500 shipped. :lol

Great pics, anaking! Glad you're enjoying it!

And riblets, everyone here is right. You will thoroughly enjoy the figure and not regret it for a second IF you wanted a great Threepio in your collection in the first place.

If it was a figure/character that you absolutely always wanted and had every intention of eventually getting, then this is the figure for you. But if Threepio would have been a purchase solely because you're a completist and have no real attachment to, like one of the many clones or a character like Darth Malgus, then you might regret it.

Believe me, I'm extra choosy about what figures I buy because I like to keep my spending to a minimum, and have a small list of must-haves. Threepio and R2 are on that list, and I see that this rendition is about as perfect as it gets. I sucked it up and forked over the money and I don't regret it for a second.
