One thing I don't understand, why is there a 'notch' on 3PO's right pec? It's not a design necessity, nor is it on the actual 3PO, so where did Tamashii get it from?

I, too, was being sarcastic bro. All good. Lighten up. One post sparked two more pages of talking about this awesome figure. I'd call that good. :peace
I wasn't hassling you. :huh

Your question seemed genuine, I guess the multiple question marks were a possible clue that you were joking - but emoticons seal the deal. :lol

...that detail seemed so confidently sculpted I never thought it didn't belong. Wonder what the go is there?

Mine's in my office and I'm out of town, but sure enough the notch is there in the pics, and not there in the screen grabs. Wor-Gar is spot on... I can't see any reason for it to be there either.

I think I can help with this one. The sculptor of this piece was also one of the authors of [ame="https://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Chronicles-Take-Shobo/dp/185227641X/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1375536121&sr=1-2&keywords=star+wars+chronicles"]The Star Wars Chronicles[/ame], which is the most wonderful coffee table book on SW. (Highly recommended). Many of the pics feature studio shots and publicity photos of the characters. The costumes of Vader and Threepio have slight differences in these shots. I believe they were taken after production wrapped. You can also see the notch in this poster:

Here is one of the pics from those studio sessions:

Wow, beautiful display, Hedji. That's the first time I think I've seen a bust of the McQuarrie conceptual 3PO. The two busts look amazing together.

As for the notch, it's funny but I thought that was screen accurate. Guess the whole time I was thinking of promotional material?

Thanks, buddy! Yeah, I think I always thought the notch was there. Probably from staring at the cover of The Star Wars Storybook for so many years.

Funny how everyone's sense of accuracy has been altered over time buy merchandise. Like this and Han's "blue" coat that's actually brown. To the point where some people actually prefer the inaccuracy.

Or still insists it's blue! :lol

I noticed the Medicom 3PO also has the notch while Sideshow's 3PO/R2 PF doesn't. I was checking out 3PO ANH screenshots on Google, though, and although some of the images are blurry, he does appear to have the notch in the scene where Luke and Ben are stopped by the Sandtroopers in Mos Eisley and in another where he's stood behind Leia on Yavin. Perhaps the costume alternated throughout the movie?

Edit: Here's the shots I'm talking about...

I kinda figured this was based on the Yavin celebration. Does he gave it during the celebration?

Mystery solved.

That spot is a dent inflicted during the Tusken Raider attack when 3PO and Luke go searching for R2. It appears precisely after the attack in the canyon. You can see when they get to the location there is no dent, then when C-3PO is lifted to sit upright in the sand, presto, the first shot of the dented chest - the same scene where Luke picks up his arm which has also been severed.

I knew you guys would solve it for me.

:D

As well as I know Star Wars, I love the fact that I'm still learning more details even so many years and so many viewings later.
