so are you guys saying because temashi is going on there own we will never get R2 as well? If sideshow will announce he and their own 3PO will be made by them i can be patient and wait it's better than buying medicom
Unless it's already available for pre-order, it's not going to be available "in the near future" - that's pretty standard for Sideshow. If it's not previewed, it's something that may be 2 or more years off, if it ever comes.
I may break down and try to buy this C3P0 from Tamashii , i don't want to but I'm afraid a medicom 3PO will break on me like it did for some of the members here. plus he is kinda short
Medicom made a new C-3PO?

totally off topic but i think it's awesome your using archer's image as an avatar
So is this the Taito R2 everyone is talking about?
I think it's totally awesome that the creators of the show used my likeness to make their character.
My 2¢: When and big IF Sideshow comes out with their own Threepio, there will assuredly be SOMETHING off with it. They may fix whatever people don't like about the Tamashii Threepio, but I can pretty much guarantee that there will be other problems and inaccuracies. It may be subtle and unnoticeable to most people out there, but it will definitely be a deal breaker to some.
If Sideshow does decide to come out with their own Threepio, it won't be for several years. The Tamashii version IS the Sideshow version. It took Sideshow 3-4 years or so to revisit Vader, so I would guess it would be around the same amount of time before we see another Threepio.
As far as R2 is concerned, I would also wager it will be another couple of years. Now that the Tamashii/Sideshow partnership has eroded, Sideshow probably has to start from square one with R2. Maybe Sideshow is also doing the "wait and see" dance with Tamashii and seeing if Tamashii will indeed secure the distribution rights on their own and won't do anything til that's settled.
BTW, I don't think R2's dome would have been released in its shiny state. They would have given it the accurate matte look. The Threepio prototype had a weird dull finish too, if you remember correctly, and the final product is what you see today.
