I get what your saying but he is missing his most important arm his port control it was important part of him i ANH accessing the computer.
The Taito R2 (pictured above) clearly has the terminal arm - Jim even mentioned it.. have another look. :lol

R2 had......
Of course - he had lots of great gadgets, but folks are mentioning the Taito because it's a decent place holder. It looks the part scale wise, & the sculpt & paint aren't too bad. That said - I wouldn't buy it. I'm waiting for a nice high end one with ALL the bells & whistles. :wink1:

..you guys seem to just grab what you can get without asking for what you want. i gave the specs to sideshow and they said they will forward it to the creative team I only hope it actually gets read and a figure is made.
..& you honestly need to read through the thread more. :lol

A lot of the folks in here, have been in here discussing pros / cons, wants & wishes - since the beginning. Take a breath, & read a little more. You're keen - that's commendable, but you're kind of overstepping the mark a little with what you're assuming / suggesting sometimes.

As I said in your 'new to SW' thread - take a little time to get some background on all this stuff; who's who, what's what - & the boardies will be more than happy to help out when you ask the right questions. :duff

sorry if i over stepped but when people say they dont care as long i's the right scale that just says their fine paying 200 for something that just sits there. The taito is ok but paint seems off and it's hard to find since their projection clock came out.

that wasn't his port key hand it's on the wrong side, like you said I'm waiting for one that is a true R2. I have looked at several right now my kenner with the utility arms will have to do until sideshow get's off from siting on their hands. I still would take a plastic C3P0 if he had sound and lights. I keep hearing the medicom one breaks and the temashi is heavy. the metal kind of worries me about possible upkeep management so he doesn't break down. and I have been told he is heavy and will stand on his own but will topple over and that plastic waist stand doesn't look sturdy. he also doesnt have sound.

for that cost he should talk am I wrong that a nearly 400 model doesn't talk they could of at least put the recordings in the base it's big enough for a squawk box. I mean yea he is metal and yea he has light up eyes.

but is his batteries replaceable and where and what kind. how come the com link he got was so small and doesn't like to stay in his hand securely(saw on video it can just drop) and the restraining bolt sometimes doesn't stay on him (that is a small losable piece)

I have a cat man he see's stuff like that drop of a figure and he is on it like white on rice.

It's like you read nothing I posted.. :lol

Of course the batteries in the Tamashii 3PO are replaceable, why wouldn't they be? :lol As far as a sound chip goes - I'm glad they didn't put one in it; they made an unbelievably good scaled analogue of Daniels in the suit. Installing something like that - unless done tastefully, would ruin the figure. There's only so much room in that torso for that kind of thing - given the moving pieces etc, so it'd end up being a huge compromise on quality as far as I'm concerned.

R2 on the other hand, is a perfect candidate for all that stuff; gadgets, sound etc. He's built right to accommodate those things in toy form.

The die-cast aspect to Tamashii 3PO is a polarizing thing - some love it, & some don't. As long as you take care with the figure, it'll be fine.

I did read their is lots of discussion on here not much good detail to go from. like the one guy i noticed that even c3po does not have his ear at the seam.

Everyone is complaining about medicom r2 and his uselessness, and that the clock is hard to find and costly for a stand by figure, as for the port arm you mentioned i thought that was r2's fire extinguisher. because his port key is on the right side of his body next to his vents that could be used as secret squawk boxes (hint hint SSC something medicom could have done but didnt no surprise)

Do you seriously think im going to sit though 400 pages that is for someone who doesn't have a life.

Well.. the point is, it's available for those that feel inclined.

Regarding catching up in this section, I wasn't suggesting that you spend a week indoors glued to your monitor going through everything ever typed. :lol

PM folks if you want quick answers, or - as I said, just take your time & peruse through the place. Googling specific queries relating to this forum, will sometimes unlock some great pics & info for you in a matter of minutes too.

I do pm some people like flossi and snyderman and sometimes scottyb and some otheres from SW area And a few of us has thought if Sideshow can't pick up the pace then a group of us on the board (not me I'm a fabric witch but nothing with plastic)
would come together and make a full on R2 unit.

kenner made some useful parts and recordings could be electronically done so it just needs a group of people who want to do this. Like a metal guy for the dome and utility arms , a plastic guys for the parts, electronics guys for the lights, sounds and motions

Groovy, yeah it's almost 500 pages here, but as mentioned, there is a lot of great info therein. You'd find your answers in the first few months of this being up I'm sure. Also, there are A LOT of YouTube unboxing vids of this figure that will also provide great insight into its construction and P/Cs. Maybe try going back to around May /June in this thread and you'll find tons of pics, unveilings, and reviews. There's even a stop motion buried in here that is awesome. The Taito had been discussed and it's surely not for everyone, but I think you'll find that the common ground in here is that we all want a great R2, by any means necessary... lol that's pretty dramatic, but I'm just saying it's on the top of everyone's list, especially those who actually have the Tomashii 3PO! Having him in hand makes the wait even worse.

I can't really afford the temachi so i do hope that sideshow does another one because if the medicom breaks as i have read in threads that has me woried i will need to buy a kenner CP30. plus him not having his ear and there seems to be something else wrong with face i can't put my finger on. A trained eye might say temachi rushed to get this to production and made some shortcuts in his head. the body is nice but there is something off and for 400 bucks you cant ignore that and with amazon some people are not happy i saw mixed reviews from people offering stuff and not delivering the items. 200+ bucks is a lot to loose out on.

I know hasbro bought out kenner but the entire 12" line is still kenner despite it's current ownership so when people mention hasbro i get confused because when you look it up you don't find that stuff under hasbro unless someone makes that distinction when they list it.. and i have to remind myself to do searches under kenner.

I still feel that Sideshow will make a CP3O at least that is my hope that they won't think this temachi is it. I keep hoping they will do a CP3O & R2D2 set. that would be sweet and their accessories should fit on the same clam shell as the figures. At least it is something to think about plus it's cost effective with pkging, artwork and ad space.

Unless it's already available for pre-order, it's not going to be available "in the near future" - that's pretty standard for Sideshow. If it's not previewed, it's something that may be 2 or more years off, if it ever comes.

General Grievous was previewed about 3 years ago wasn't he and still isn't released?

So even if SSC announce a C-3PO today it would still be two years away going by the current trend.:peace

Though I agree C-3P0 would be at least 3 years away Grievous isn't a good example because he was from a 3D model and they stated it took them longer just due to the fact that they had to make it work so that he could stand properly.
