I've had stuff sit for two weeks and then arrive with no charges. Customs works in Mysterious Ways.

For the weathering I just got some light brown paint and painting only small bit and rubbing off with a dusty
It seems to go in cracks making it appear to be dirt
When you have finished you can use some water down brown paint on him to catch the weathering look like it is in movie

Or I nearly forgot you need big balls as well

Do you have to rub them on the paint/figure to get the right burnished finish?

no, when you've finished the cracks and joints etc
I would use the same paint but water it down I would paint the chest using my brush
and then you dab-bit with a wrag or dusty but leave some of the paint on
remember only paint a small bit because you after get the paint off before it drys
I'd only paint about 2 inch.
try it on something else not valuable first

I managed to grab one of these for more or less retail from a UK seller, thankfully didn't have to go japan route. He is outstanding. He has a few imperfections and a small paint rub on the crotch which isn't really visible unless you get very close. Im more than happy with it as 3po was never really factory fresh . I have R2 coming this week too i can't wait for that setup

That's right--the Sideshow one is not die cast.

As far as being more highly rated than the Sideshow one, it's impossible to really determine until the Sideshow one is in hand. It also depends on your personal preference on whether you like the clean look of this one or the weathered look of the Sideshow one. People also feel that it's better to have the weathered Threepio so it matches the finish of Sideshow's R2, although I thing the clean Threepio and the weathered R2 look fine together.

I have this one and think it's amazing. The details are incredible and the shiny finish is sublime. But people have criticized small innacuracies and the over sized pistons on his arms.

I would read through this thread some more to see what specific things people are complaining about. Same with the Sideshow one. I would look through that thread thoroughly and see what the criticisms have been.

I couldn't tell small inaccuracies. I just want die cast after receiving my plastic r2 from SSC a bit underwhelmed.

The majority of negatives (in this thread) have come from people that don't have it. He's very impressive in hand, despite the inaccuracies harped on by said 3POless detractors.

I'm still shopping for one, and I'll continue to rag on it after I have it. He's like the Ginger Kid of Star Wars collectibles, IMO.
