Here they are, i did a grey wash on bb-8 and the white droid

awesome job and good example with some work these figures can look great.

And great job on cargo C3po. I don't have HT Chewbacca or else I would had tried the same

My local store had a bunch of them. They are in the movie section, not the toys. I'd like to slip that 3PO into my 12" display but I have a feeling at some point I'll be buying the Sideshow or a Hot toys version, so I'd just be wasting the $30.

Saying something looks like plastic is snobby? And this coming from someone with the screen name plasticcrapmoneywaster? So I was just being snobby and you decided to be an ass. makes sense.

Actually it kind of is, and you know it. It means you think they look cheap. Hey, cool, lower-end items aren't your bag - so don't comment on them. Simple. Your comment came immediately following my photo that I took the trouble to take and post for the rest of the forum to enjoy. In saying there is nothing wrong with adding droids to the collection but these just look like plastic says there is nothing wrong with wanting more droids but these look like crap so congrats to anyone who wasted money on them. That's how I took your comment. So again, who is being the ass here?

BTW - my handle is meant to be tongue-and-cheek based off of my father's impressions of my collecting hobby going back 20 years ago when all I did collect was Star Trek Galoob Micro Machines. It is a little self-deprecating joke of mine and is not some sweeping statement of how I feel about the collecting hobby. If you still have doubts watch my video and see for yourself the passion I have for collecting. In other words, don't be a literalist.

Look at your screen handle... Hard to take your offense seriously (from a pretty accurate comment) when someone is implying ALL this stuff is plastic crap...

The C3P0 does look super cheap but the other two don't look too bad. A little detailing on the Astromech with a wash and some dry brushing and he probably can look ok. Hard to tell on BB-8 how cheap he actually comes off but the Golden Rod looks like he is a dark bronze rod with no details added in paint and he is very short. It looks like BB-8 has attachable arm pieces... are one of them the lighter?

My handle is tongue-and-cheek. Don't be a literalist. Yeah, they are a 29.99 set, it's not a newsflash that they don't hold up to the standards set by Sideshow and Hot Toys so to point it out is just being kind of Captain Obvious, if not a little snobby. Sorry.

If I am to get Chewie, I may very well pick this up, repaint C-3PO and dismantle him the same. What are you using for the sling bag, dmontane1?

Feel free to bash me or call me cheap; I honestly think that if you're willing to put in the time and professional paint, then you can easily sub these in place of HT or SS figures if you don't have a huge budget. The sculpts are clearly good. Will the be the same? Of course not. But can they look convincing with some work? Sure. I know I wouldn't spend $200 on droids, but I would make a project of these. If the astromech droid was R2 I would have done it already.

I think that is awesome. I wish I had the talent to REALLY make these look great, unfortunately, I am a realist and I will just have to enjoy them as is. I personally budget only a 1000.00 dollars a year for collecting, so I have to be discriminating in what I buy as far as HT or SS is concerned. That said, it is REALLY cool when something comes along from a mass retail provider like Hasbro like these droids for a basement price point of just under thirty bones.

Talk about reading way too far into a short comment, you just did it. And yes, you're still the one being an ass. Getting all bent out of shape because I called something you own "plastic" you need to grow some thicker skin. And remember, not everything, including posts written right after your post, is about you. So if you took my comment the wrong way then shame on you.

Then please by all means explain what you meant by your comment. All I said was your comment was a little snobby, you're the one who has gone full-blown **** here. All you would need to say here is that yes, this set doesn't look like something I would want to drop thirty bucks on but its cool if other folks like them. This is a dumb argument.

While it's always nice to have more droids in the collection these just look like plastic.

Looks like they could be re-finished pretty nicely though.

The level of sculpt detail is my main concern - I see there are toy "simplifications" on the 3PO (his collarbone spikes are molded into body) but hoping the overall sculpt is pretty sharp, not softer and lacking smaller details. Hasbro stuff can sometimes be pretty great - they've come closer than anyone to capturing Yoda's likeness in 1/6 - but as a general rule their stuff doesn't belong next to HT stuff.:lol

I'm getting these in a few days. I only got the white droid and 3PO, have no need for BB-8.

My comment meant that they look plastic and I don't have the skills it takes to make them look really cool. Somebody did a grey wash, looks great. Another took 3PO apart and put together an empire version of Chewie/3PO. That's really inventive. I don't posses the skills to do such things so to me they would still just look like plastic. Cheers to those that can change that. And you're the one who started this argument chum. And I agree, it's really, really dumb.

If you have the ability to transform these then it's definitely worth the money. I still have a few Hasbro items mixed into my collection. Like Jawas.

Just got these figures in-hand and they are decent, but the 3PO is very small. He's close to 10 1/2" tall and some of his parts (though not all) are smaller than the SSC 3PO.

He's a decent backpack 3PO for Chewy with a repaint, but he's really too small for upright display next to HT/SSC figs. I was considering getting one to paint up as a white Hoth droid but won't be doing that.

The R2 unit is very simple in terms of articulation but a quite a decently detailed unit. Only a tiny fraction smaller than the SSC R2.
