Agree on the cartoon but teaching them martial art from a book is a huge fail for me.
.

Yeah, that was really stupid and somehow Splinter became an expert :lol I didn't like the connection to April either. They should keep the origin consistent just like other heroes have a definitive origin story. I prefer the one with Splinter as a human. His daughter was taken and raised by Shredder after he killed Splinter's wife. It gives the story more substance and it makes Shredder a better villain, imo.

Thats why IDW has one of the greatest TMNT back stories. I frickin love this run IDW is doing.

That's an interesting origin...they could add some of those elements to the current films, since they already have a similar origin, but I don't get why they keep changing the story. However, the best origins always have Splinter and Shredder having a history in a previous life. That's why the showdown between Splinter and Shredder in the last film was meaningless, because they had no history.

This, the Nick Toon did this and it's freaking awesome, I have no idea about the comic books but if that's how it goes, the Nick Toon seems to be following that. There's so much drama in that show for a kids cartoon lol It's easily one of my favorite versions of the Turtles.

In the original comics Splinter was a rat and his master/owner was killed by Shredder back in Japan like in the 1990 film. The current comics by IDW changed it. In the current comics, Splinter was a Human named Yoshi (I think) and his wife and 4 boys were killed by Shredder back in Japan, and they reincarnated in a laboratory as a rat and four turtles. Spliter remembers everything. That's a pretty good and tragic origin too.

If it was me making a film, I would combine all those stories into one like this. Splinter was a human in Japan and he had 4 boy and a daughter. Shredder kills Splinter and accidentally kills the four little boys...something he regrets doing. However, the girl survives and Shredder takes care of her in way to make up for what he did to the boys. Splinter and the boys reincarnate as a rat and turtles, and they are mutated and only Splinter remembers his past life and eventually he tells the boys the truth...Karai (Shredder's daughter) eventually finds out the truth that Splinter is her father and the turtles her brothers. Shredder also learns the truth eventually...which makes it a problem for him because he hates the turtles, but he also regrets what he did to them in their previous life. He still hates Splinter though...that's personal :lol That's "my perfect" origin if I was making the film.

Why couldn't splinter be a man named Yoshi who's wife is killed by shredder. He then flees to America, lives in the sewer where he finds four pet turtles. They all touch ooze and he becomes a rat and they become more human. ???????

Yeah, that works too, but I like Shredder raising Splinter's daughter in the current cartoons. Anything is better than the last film.

Ya I think that was the cardback story of the original toys, that's how I came to know their origins too.

^^ Nice to see a simpler interpretation. I don't know why they have to over do everything in films. Shedder doesn't need gadgets let his ninjitsu skills do the talking.

Edit: Now watch me eat these words when he is mutated into a Super Shredder at the end of the film :lol

Pretty cool sequence

Raph was the only "Bay Turdles" character I liked and the only one with somewhat funny jokes.
Looks and feels the same here.

Guys you'll get no argument from me the original Shredder was so badass. It's really not that hard to do is it?
