Don't a lot of franchises though? Tmnt is still relatively new compared to other cases and cowls. It has time to be perfected.

The thing is, everyone acknowledges the sequels after the 1990 film are horrendous.

Well some hate on the original film too, which I honestly don't understand. Yeah it's got it's kid level humor in it, but it was still really dark. The film is 26 years old and I still buy those rubber suits over anything that came after it.

Yeah I don't get all the hate either. Original was great conversion of comic to movie. It was dark and still had the fun parts of the Turtles. They are teenagers after all so they were supposed to be silly at times. Those who hate just dont understand it. I agree that there hasn't been a good movie after the original. There has been some great comics though.

this was a fun movie, i liked it, had a better time than watching x men or BVS. it was funny but had a good story. krang was crazy, everyone was fun to see
this feels more like a real first ninja turtles movie, like if they other one never existed at all and the studio just released this, that would have been awesome
the turtles look less freakish as well. the faces look nicer

I agree. It had more of the Archie comics feel to them. A little serious but some fun. The designs are still all wrong. The charm of tmnt lies with them veung underdogs. Now that they are as big as hulk, there's not much underdog going on.

They look more clean and lean. They had double chins in 1st one. Plus less garb being worn.

They look better in this film. I still prefer the classic design from the old cartoons and 1990 film, but at the same time I like that each character has a design that matches their personality and the things they're know for, like Dinnie wearing the glasses and a few electronic gadgets. Also, it's smart to make each turtle unique looking if you're trying to sell merchandise and toys. Sometimes it's difficult to let go of the past, but you can't add or contribute to a brand without moving forward. I still think they're a little too bulky and too strong, which kind of makes their ninja skills unnecessary, but other than that, I don't mind how they look in the new film.
