I know those who have the Artisan will feel incentivized to justify their purchase, but I don’t think they nailed the dreadlocks in rooted form. This shows how “realistic” the sculpted dreadlocks look and how much more they are to scale. If the bandana was fabric and pulled tight against his dome, even better. But with the current rooted Artisan application, I don’t think they’re convincing as they should be, and instead it looks like he’s wearing a wig with a bunch of cattails attached to it, IMO.

I'm not looking to convince anybody otherwise. To each his own, but I completely agree with you. The sculpted version looks so much better to me. And overall, it frames the face nicely. The Artisan looks like he's drowning in a head full of hair. The rooted dreadlocks look like sausages hanging by the side of his head. I don't know why they made them so thick...

Yeah, honestly the Instagram photos you shared sold me 100%. I have no second thoughts about wanting the Artisan now.

Thanks lol.

Despite the gripes I still have with the figure, at this point, I’d rather have this (with DX06 hat) than the older DX15. I prefer the new base as well.

Why is it those with the rooted artisan on order that are the ones who need to justify the purchase? One could argue you’re just as much incentivized to justify NOT getting the rooted and defend your purchase :dunno it can easily go both ways.

I say this as someone who is getting both btw as I like to have both options if it’s feasible.

EDIT: both are great and both have their merits. You can’t go wrong with either. Whichever one you choose, you win b/c it’s going in your collection and there’s no reason to justify your purchase to anyone

Your opinion is opposite of mine, therefore your opinion is merely a subconscious act to avoid accepting that my opinion is right.

Ahh, the good ole internet :ROFLMAO:

It's like the argument between the guards in Curse. And no opinion that's not the same as mine couldn't genuinely be how you feel and not some crazy denial, is that what you're saying?

is it that bad?
I think a third party hat would sell like hotcakes @Kit Chen, seems like most don't like it.
I'd be down for a neat accessory pack of a nice looking sculpted hat and a bottle of rum. A die-cast sword would be neat as well but quite frankly the hat and bottle of rum would suffice.

I have this mental image of how I want pose the figure, it's basically Jack wearing the full captain outfit with a hat, holding the compass with the right hand and then his left arm resting on the helm holding a bottle of rum. Obviously one of those items is not included and the other looks horrible, so again, I'd love to see a third party make an accessory pack for this.

Look bud, I’ve got the Artisan on PO.

We ALL look for whatever reasons to justify our purchases for ourselves. Don’t kid yourself, we all do it.

Not to mention, this forum is essentially a soapbox for anyone on here.

Ha! That was a great call back! I read that last bit in the chunkier, darker haired guard’s voice

You know @Gipetto0812 I kinda wish you kept it real with me and flat out say you’re not fond of my OPINIONS lol. I know I get under your skin and you always gotta say something that works against me.

I wasn’t trying to convince anyone exactly, and as someone who was debating which one to keep for the collection, I was just saying that the sculpted dreadlocks are even better than the rooted cattails/sausages. We all justify our own purchases in whatever way we see fit.

Yes! A hat and a bottle of rum.

If we all justify our purchases to ourselves, why even point it out and try to segregate those who ordered the artisan version must be trying to convince themselves of their order?
I think y’all read into it too much. If you don’t like the opinion, scroll on. As I already said, I was considering which to keep. It’s not like I didn’t have a “stake” in this debate.

Now I’m beginning to question myself if those on edge right now are getting ruffled because the sculpted locks do in fact look better to you too? 🤔 Perhaps it’s denial?

I wish people/collectors were more honest with themselves from an objective point of view, but I get it, emotions run high, especially when money is involved lol.

If what I’m saying is bullsh*t (I mean, some people agree, it’s not just me) then surely, there must be an underlying reason why some of y’all take issue with what I said.

One of the best parts about the franchise is the quality of secondary characters, Gibbs, the guards, Norrington, Bootstrap, Governor Swann, Pintell and Rigetti, Marty, Scrum, Beckett, etc.

You couldn't have just Jack, Barbossa, Will, Elizabeth and Davy Jones alone and have the films be as good.

Dude what the heck is your problem? 😂
I’ve had it lol. Dog tired, boss

Thank you. And I've always enjoyed when a secondary character shows up again, like an Easter Egg.

Meanwhile, picked up BBK's pirate Sophia which there are absolutely no reviews about; and seems to be a female KO of Jack Sparrow. But, I wanna kitbash her into either Elizabeth in DMC; or just kitbash her into a random female pirate who is just hanging around. I'd love a Tia Dalma and some of the secondary characters.
Even one of Jack's random lady friends. There's backtracking and paying for older POTC figs $$$ but past 3-5 years they are expensive and am cautious about what the storage conditions may have been.

P.S. Gibb's line "Heave! Heave like you're being paid for it!" cracks me up. Sounds like the pay for most jobs. :lol
