essential?
is it hard to hack through deadpan one-liners, or act like a robot with an inexplicable austrian accent?
you really can't think of any other lousy actors who could pull that off?
to me, the terminator movies are all about special fx, awesome machines and explosions.
and i can't think of anything that arnold could have contributed to that.
so, i won't miss him in the sequels.

Thinking that Terminator can't survive without Arnold is not unlike Hollywood's idiotic theory that you can't do an Aliens movie without Ripley, so I think they can definitely move forward without him.

However, Arnold helped make Terminator what it is today. And frankly, your ruthless mockery of The Man just saddens me....:monkey2

Yeah but the fact is he is/was the original Terminator regardless of whether any random muscle-man could have done it just as well. Why go into the hypothetical on this? Plus he did have a fairly unique face even if any body builder actor would have sufficed for the overall physique.

Again, not saying he needs to be in every installment from here on - he doesn't because Terminator has gone beyond that - fans are invested in the universe it depicts. However I think Arnie should be given credit as being part of its appeal in the first place.

GTFO!!! sorry, but without Arnold, Terminator would've never gone anywhere past the first movie. he's synonymous with the Terminator iconography. critique his acting all you want, but to say without him the Terminator franchise would be what it is today is just dumb.

so, basically, there's no actual reason arnold is "essential" to terminator other than that's just who you're used to.
in other words, if cameron went with mel gibson (who turned it down) instead, you'd be saying the same thing about him.
as long as they show endo's in action keep the movies comming.
yep. that's mostly what i care about.
