Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

You guys are gonna roll your eyes (so be it) but I think Chris Evans would have made a great rebooted Kyle Reese. Biehn played a badass but not in a one-dimensional tool kind of way. He had an earnestness and awkwardness about him that Evans has done a good job conveying in both Cap movies.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I wouldn't have a problem with Evans, but I think he's probably too expensive considering they seem to have bought this cast outside of Arnold for a $1.

Plus I'm guessing it would probably be a tough sell to get him to play another fish out of water soldier from another time. :lol

They could have done so much with this movie. Imagine if when Reese went back not only were Pops and Sarah a team but because the timeline had changed she also had a man and a two year old boy named John already. NOT Reese's son. Her lover could be played by the same guy who plays future John but with different hair and no scars and everything to show that it's John's dad and not John. It would also reveal to Reese and the audience that the John who sent him back KNEW that Reese wasn't the father.

Possible problem with that, maybe Pops-800 would have known about Kyle Reese being John's dad and thus would have 'dissuaded' all potential suitors in the meantime. Then again conceivably he wouldn't know unless, like in T4 John was just announcing it to ****ing everyone. If John was sensible he wouldn't tell people and he'd just let things play out as they're supposed to but with these writers.....

OR maybe Sarah is with a guy that looks like future John and she DOESN'T have a kid. But Reese loves her and is faced with the dilemma of keeping his distance so that the John he knew can be conceived or making a move and erasing him with his own kid. It'd be so awesome to see Reese as the true underdog again, not only in his battle against the T-1000 but with regard to love as well.

A problem with this is that Reese doesn't know he's John's dad. Unless I'm misunderstanding you your scenario kinda makes out like he does. Reese probably doesn't even know if Sarah would be interested in him that way so he wouldn't necessarily see the dilemma himself and you wouldn't get that drama.

I think it would also have been awesome if they had the T-1000 KILL Pops early on. What an "oh ****" that moment would be. If they want to repeat the T-1000 fine, but make it human vs. T-1000. We've never seen that before.

It would certainly increase the feeling of threat but it's hard to see how a mere human would stand any chance at all against a T-1000. They'd have to write some pretty contrived scenarios for Reese to survive that, which could in turn make the T-1000 look really weak and ineffective....

Also there's no way they'd get Arnie on board only to kill him off early :lol But you know that.

Exactly, Reese WOULDN'T know that he was ever John's "dad." He'd just see Sarah, a girl he loved and "came across time for" with a guy who resembled the grown up John. Then Reese would know that the other guy clearly WAS John's dad and he'd know that if he messed around with Sarah that he'd be erasing the John who sent him back. Basically it'd just go back to that "original timeline" discussion we had but with both "fathers" intersecting with each other.

I'd take a turnip over what were getting.

Well that too. :lol

Jai Courtney must be doing something wrong to remain gainfully employed. Somebody get me Vincennes!

Ahhh, yeah I get it.

Man, even without seeing another guy in the picture, original Reese had to have known he was potentially messing with the future big-time. Unless he was so inexperienced and so naive that he didn't know he could impregnate Sarah by not.......extracting himself.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Or maybe he did know he was messing things up hence the "I shouldn't have said that" but when Sarah made her move he couldn't resist.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Not sure. If he doesn't have that, he won't have all the plasma round scars on him either. I didn't notice any scars in the trailer.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I don't know why I'm even bothering to imagine cool scenarios when it doesn't really appear that this movie will have any. But here's another one. What if Reese AND Sarah end up getting arrested at some point in the movie? Then the *T-1000* goes to the police station pretending to be a friend of Sarah Connor's. Mayhem ensues, 17 police officers die.

Maybe instead of Silberman walking past the T-800 on his way out he just walks out by himself...and then re-enters moments later.
